I am flying to the city of the angeles Wednesday. We will meet for dinner and drinks Wednesday night at 6PM. If you have never been to one of these, you are missing out. Everyone is civilized and people bring something interesting to show (hat, jacket, pocket watch, B-17, etc). Some dress a bit more formal, others dress casual. If you are a member here you don't dress like a bum anyway. Come how you want.

The question is where. A few people have suggested these places to meet. Let us know if you can attend by posting here and tell us where you rather go. :cheers1:

Musso and Frank's.
6667 Hollywood Blvd
Hollywood, CA

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Tues.-Sat.
You're in Raymond Chandler territory at Musso's. A Hollywood landmark since 1919, this place has the clubby look and feel to which newcomers like The Grill aspire. If nothing else, come for a Manhattan at the bar. When dining, expect brusque service and such old-fashioned favorites as grilled steaks and chops, beef stroganoff, sauerbraten, chicken pot pie, short ribs and cannelloni, or try the seafood 'chiffonade' salad full of shrimp and other delights from the sea. All made the old-fashioned way; there are no microwaves in the restaurant. The all-day breakfast menu includes omelets and pancakes, called flannel cakes (only served until 3 PM). You haven't been to Hollywood if you haven't been to Musso's -- a superstitious rite of passage for aspiring actors.

The cat and the Fiddle
6530 Sunset Blvd.
Hollywood, CA
http://www.thecatandfiddle.com/

A Hollywood institution and a beloved watering hole for rockers, British expats and their friends, with an enormous and prettily lit outdoor patio and several cozy inside rooms (in one of them a fireplace blazes in winter), The Cat & Fiddle serves up a full bar, with about six beers on tap (from Fosters to Strongbow), and artery-clogging pub standards such as the ploughman's lunch, fish 'n' chips, mixed grill and steak-and-kidney-pie. Homesick English transplants can even buy bangers by the pound to take home. It's a super-comfortable spot to wile away a few hours over a pint any time (though the music inside gets pretty loud) and, when there's live music (call in advance for schedule), a place for a rocking good time.

McDonald's
http://www.mcdonalds.com/
throw a rock and you will hit one.

A variety of American fast food served in little Styrofoam packages. The menus is mostly photos so you don't have to read. Just point and say " I want dat!" Patrons are encouraged to order french fries and soda pop with there entrée. If not the server will try to convince you that without these side orders that you aren't really eating a meal. Seating is in very colorful hard plastic chairs. Childcare is not provided but there is a play area. There is no dress code per say, but the advertisements for this establishment usually shows people depicted wearing very color clothing.

BTW:
I can bring Fedora Lounge Mugs for those who wish to buy them and save the shipping if you will let me know by Tuesday.

UPDATE! We are meeting at Musso's.

I might make it..

But many factors are involved... how late I have to work, if it's raining (my truck isn't totally waterproof).. explaining why I'm having fun and my wife has to stay home...

And I still don't my my perfect vintage suit yet... Fedora's yes, suits no...

Hmm,

gotta work till five and we have an OP on Wednesday, so I may be here late for the aircraft recovery. It would take me an hour to get down there too, even if I left right at five and blasted down on the harley. Looks like I'll have to pass this time.

Did you decide on the place?

I still hope I can make it. Industry meetings keep getting switched. Musso And Frank's has my vote. Cat 'N Fiddle doesn't feel too noir. I hope you post the meeting place tomorrow.

Musso & Frank's is a Hollywood landmark which was opened 1924. In its heyday it was a popular destination for Hollywood's elite, including movie stars, film directors and producers and the great writers F. Scott Fitzgerald and William Faulkner. The waiters can point out their favorite booths and tell stories about which books were partially written here. Legend has it that Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks once raced each other down Hollywood Boulevard on horseback, the loser having to pick up the dinner tab at Musso & Frank's. If you are interested in Hollywood History, this is a great place to have a meal. Musso & Frank's is old school: dark and filled with red leather padded booths. The menu hasn't changed in years: they still serve some of the best martinis and steaks in town.

Musso & Frank serves old-fashioned American/Continental food. The menu definitely has the flavor of years gone by: Corn beef and cabbage (on Tuesdays), shrimp cocktails, Welsh rarebit and jellied consommé and chicken pot pie (on Thursdays). Steaks are always good here and I like the fish and chips a lot too.

Wish I was there...!!!

HAVE an absolutely splendid evening guys. I really wish I could attend something like that, but the Queen Mary never seemed to return to Southampton (guess it prefers the weather on the west coast of USA), so I'll not be getting across the pond in a hurry!!! Have a Guinness and Bushmills chaser on me, I'll be thinking of you enjoying the vintage delights of Mussos'.
