Time for a new do?

Well, I've been thinking of a new hairdo.. the only problem is I'm have hair that looks a lot like david letterman. There's not a whole lot you can do with it.

I want a late 30's 40's look..

Can you think of any examples of people to show (most likely movie stars) with a similar folicle problem? ie: pics...

Or should I just stick with it short everywhere...like Dave
