Where to keep wallet

Should a man keep his wallet in his suit's breast pocket, side pocket, or back pocket?

Will keeping it in a certain location put more wear & tear on a suit?

What you think Decker?

Sorry, man, no Decker here. Maybe you meant Deckard, as in Matt.

Here's the answer: if your wallet was smaller, you wore it in your back pocket. If your wallet was longer (checkbook size), you wore it in the inside breast pocket of your jacket. (Many '30s/'40s suits had only one inside breast pocket, BTW.) If you wanted to carry nothing but cash, you used a billfold which could go into your front trouser pocket or your jacket's pocket.

I was always partial to the longer (checkbook size) in the breast pocket. Somehow the over-packed, lumpy smaller version in the back pocket always seemed so d?©class?©e .

I carry my checkbook in the breast pocket of my jacket.

I carry a small business card case in my front left packet. Just enough space for 3-4 necessary cards and cash. :)

Longer wallet, the kind where banknotes are upright, in my left inner breast pocket. I try to keep it as flat as possible, which would be more difficult in the states. So I took out the SwissCard again. Sigh.

If I'm not sure I can pay with a card, I take along a spiral squeeze coin purse as well, in my left front pocket trouser.

It varies with suits. My wallets (one cash, one cards) are both on belt chains, and in casual trousers live in my back pockets. If this doesn't work with a suit, I'll remove the chain from the card wallet and carry just it in my suit breast pocket. I prefer a smaller (tri fold) wallet over the larger kind.

My dearie's grandfather, who was a tailor (as previously stated many times elsewhere I know, but!) never put a back pocket in trousers, because of the risk of pickpockets. Most likely place to get your wallet lifted from!

I carry a "front pocket" money-clip wallet. It's fairly slim. I have a Filofax Mini and I carry that in the inside breast pocket of my jackets. It's about the size of a two-fold wallet and I try to keep the number of insert pages to a minimum.

I carry my wallet in the back pocket. Maybe that makes me a weirdo but that way I always know where it is. The only way I would put it in my coat pocket is if I happened to not have a back pocket. Force of habit I guess.

I've always kept mine in the left rear pants pocket. But I will move it to the left front if I am in a city or place I am not familiar with. I've never noticed any overt wear in any of my pants.[huh]

Billfold in the back right unless I'm dressed up & out on the town. Then it's a sterling cigarette case in the inside jacket pocket...if I don't have a jacket pocket, it's in the back right, since it's curved, it works fine.

Use whatever you're comfortable with. I've always thought reaching into an inside jacket pocket for something was very classy, as opposed to groping around your posterior for it.

I've never used any other kind of wallet.

Or this petty medal money, which you tell to give to charity? :D

I kept it in my back pocket for many years. Recently, I bought a new, much slimmer wallet and I'm trying my front pocket. But now as I brush my right pinky over my back pocket (as I am wont to do instinctually), I briefly think my wallet's been lifted. Still working on getting used to it.

I need to work on my luggage situation. I have a thick two-fold wallet in my back right pocket, cell phone and notepad in left pocket (notepad for those impromptu things I need to write down like a song I heard or grocery list), right pocket has pen, pencil, keys, lighter, and a few coins. I hate how bulky my front pockets are. I can put the notepad in my back left pocket to free up the front. All of these things are essentials so it's tough to reduce them down.

The over packed wallet is a symptom of not letting things go. Usually every 2 or 3 months I go thru my wallet and take out the non essentials. I tend to build up a bunch of receipts and business cards which needs thinning.

There have been reports of back injury due to too fat a wallet in the back pocket and spinal mis-alignment!

I have an every day wallet, a longer dress wallet for in the jacket and a money clip for vacation time in Las Vegas.
