I can't say I'm a big fan of that one, JT. Makes me think that it might have been a women's fedora (not saying it is, though) However, with a bound edge, it could look like a western homburg. Still not something I could pull off myself. Heck, I'm not sure I could bring myself to pull that on lol

While my red hat is whimsical enough to wear to a renaiscance faire (We have three that I go to.), I don't normally wear it anywhere else. It is definitely a man's hat, though I'm sure it has been worn by a woman somewhere in its history. It has a top notch leather sweatband, better than other Lock & Co. hats I've seen. I originally bought it for the sweatband and the wide black ribbon and bow (since pirated for another hat). Those two parts were worth the $12 it cost in a thrift store. But I've gotten more than my money's worth of fun out of it, too. Here's the present incarnation of that hat: http://www.lockhatters.co.uk/Fedoras-Manhattan-P64.aspx . How much is L140, anyway?

That's not an L, JT, it's a pound sign. £O£

Anyway, at present the exchange is roughly double, so 140GBP is about 280USD.

That's quite a lot. You could get an AB and maybe a hat off eBay for that. lol

He has been conspicuously quiet! lol

Maybe he saw your hat and is now lying unconscious somewhere near his computer. Hope he comes around again soon. lol

Maybe I can redeem myself (and my dignity) with this offering. A "Nashville Cowboy," pure white wool (I know...), brim cut down to my favorite 2 5/8", black ribbon added, nothing done to the crown.

No need. Your dignity was never in question.

Nevertheless, that is another nice conversion.

Any chance we could see a line up of some/all of these, JT? It would be nice to see them in such a way as to compare dimensions, colours and bashes easily. Maybe just line them up along a shelf or table or something and snap something. It'd be great in this thread.

I deliberately saved this one for last. I resized it up from 6 7/8 to 7 1/8. That would be quite a stretch for some hats, but this one handled it well. It's definitely fur. Viewed straight on, there is virtually no taper. (Bears a striking resemblance to a popular hat made by a well known company in Australia.) I rebashed the crown from a cattleman's crease, and reshaped the brim. Now for the surprise: It is a BRADFORD DOUBLE X. Most of those are wool. This one is not! (Glyco-Tite Process?)
