I, too, have lurked here for ages before finally registering a few weeks ago.

Hello from Nebraska and Cornhusker land! :::waves:::

I've loved everything vintage since I was a child. My parents are bonafide members of the golden era (mom born in '30, dad in '31). They had me late in life - married in 1952, then I came along 20 years later in '72 (and I'm an only child, he he). So that puts me in the unique position of being a gen-xer, with an appreciation of the modern era I was born in, plus the era my parents and ancestors came from. I grew up listening to Sinatra and Fitzgerald along side my MTV. :D

I'm married, owned by 4 cats and 1 dog, work as a secretary at the University of Nebraska (not the Cornhusker one...sorry football fans! I'm at Kearney, the Antelope one...Go Lopers!) and as my forum name shows, I'm an avid Ginger Rogers fan. But my real name is Betsy.

I'm so glad I found a place where people like the same things I do!! I've always felt like a dork for having my nose "stuck in the past." This square has found a place to fit in. I look forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community!

I'm new here also - I'm MissWednesday and I'm from Australia. I've always been a little obsessed with all things retro/vintage and this place just helps fuel that obsession! :)

Hello there. I've been on the lounge for a bit. Great to find a place that reflects my sensibilities. Really like the topic's and personalities on this site - great stuff! I'm from Melbourne, Australia (go to a map of Australia and go as far south you can go without getting your feet wet). I'm a long term hat wearer, starting out swing dancer, noir fan, and closet American (I spent a fair bit of time growing up in Boston, Mass). Also a bit of a British colonial at heart with a family history in helping to build 'The Empire on which the sun never sets'. ;)

Cheers

Welcome to all our new members!

Especially the Australian ones! ;)

My brother and grandparents live a couple hours from Adelaide and when I visited them in 2003 for my brother's wedding I found southern Australia to be the friendliest place I have ever been.

Tweedy Architect, Athenaeum, etc.

I was delighted when I discovered the Fedora Lounge! I've always loved the Golden Age of the early 20th Century, and love knowing there are so many who share my interest.

I'm a "tweedy", ivy-league, traditionalist architect, practicing in Boston. My design specialty is historic residential architecture. Like the motto of the Tyrel Corp. in Bladerunner: "More Human than Human", my goal is a house that is "More Historic than Historic". :) The 1920's were the high-noon of good house design in America, and I'm never prouder than when a sub-contractor arrives on the job site and thinks a house that I designed is actually a renovation of a historic house!

I'm more on the tweed cap, sports jacket with patches on the elbows, kind of guy; not so much fedora and double-breasted ensemble, but everything vintage is good!

Also a member of the Athenaeum Library, which was founded 200 years ago! The associate members' Autumn event is going to be a vintage, prohibition-era party! Any Athenaeum members here going?

Hello eveyone. My name is Tammi. I found the Fedora Lounge while doing a search for 1940's Snoods. I see a few people here from Port Halcyon. Hello! I love the 1930's-1950's. I think 30s and 50's style suits me best but I am learning how to do the 40's look as well. I also love old movies and would love to learn to dance. My current obssesion is hats. I'd post a photo of myself but I don't like any of them.

Hello Everyone

I too am a lurker, stepping out of the shadows. I love this site, the information is overwhelming and much more entertaining than most tv shows.
Nice to see all of you beautiful ladies and handsome men enjoying all things vintage.
Cheers:cheers1:

Hello,

Hopefully the cookies and milk are acceptable, although I am sure that the amount supplied is far from adequate. My name is Michael; although I will not be posting much, I will always be rummaging through the site.

I figure that I should post a picture to complete the introduction;

Hello Lady Day,

I am relieved to hear that the cookies sufficed. Thank you for the correction regarding the post count requirement for the personal messages, I had forgotten about that after; I read the frequently asked questions last week. As well, thank you for the comment about the ears; they are at a 1/2", and have been for about 3 years.

13 more to go,
Michael

Hi, I've been lurking on this site for a month or so and it's fantastic. Very informative, friendly, no flaming. I'm new to the world of hats. When I was younger they didn't seem to look good on me. It seems I've aged into them. I just got a Panama Montecristi fedora which I only had a chance to wear once. Interestingly, I got compliments from pretty much every demographic but my own, middle-aged white guys! I've also ordered a hat from the phenomenal Art Fawcett, who I discovered on here, of course.

A Big Hello To All

I missed this Introduction thread completely:eusa_doh: so I guess it is time for a "proper" introduction. I lurked here on and off for quite a while to make sure it was what it seemed and I have to say it is that and more! I thought that I was a hat nut until I landed here and I must say--boy did/do I have a lot to learn! Anyway everyone I've "met" here have been extremely nice and it's a great place to "hang out".

BTW I do love all things vintage, live in a Grand Little 1929 house full of antique and period furnishings that we have collected over the years. I look forward to sharing my stories and pictures and hope you enjoy them as much as I do reading and seeing yours.

Yes the Avatar is me wearing what else but my Akubra Town & Country Fedora! See Ya'll in the forums!

Hi and thanks

Hi there,

I'm kinda new to the Fedora Lounge, although my husband has been pootling around here for most of the past year. We live in Melbourne, southern Australia, and are hoping to make a move up to the northern hemisphere some time in the next year or two. Eastern or Western Europe or North America, I don't mind ....

I am a horticulturalist and professional trainer currently stuck in a management/desk job but I'm determined to break out and indulge my creative side when the time is right. All kinds of beautiful things make my heart sing - retro glamour, swing and jazz, photography, natural landscapes, wonderful design in all kinds of media (fabrics & notions, architecture, industrial design, paper products, digital and hand-made artworks, gardens.....)

These days when I'm not at work I'm doing my best to learn swing dancing, trying to teach myself to sew, and enjoying my garden with my hubby, cat and dog. If I could, I would travel the world with them for the rest of my life :)

Looking forward to meeting you all and hearing your thoughts and tips!
