here's a neat photo I found... it would be funny to see the H channel come out with a program called "Depression Tech" lol

People would do this when their motor would stop working and they couldn't afford to get it working again or, they didn't have money for gas.

Interesting how some people got along back then!

Well, at lest they had the courtesy (to the horse) to remove several hundred pounds of motor. Like to see you do that with a modern car.

Well, they took the motor out because it was just dead weight... no need for it and also they took the whole front clip off to allow the conversion.

I just about fell over when I saw that photo... a Ford Model T with 2 horse power! HAHAHA!

The abandoned cars of the 30s was sure true. When they quit running they set where they stopped or got stuck in barns, sheds or old garages.

The vintage car set have two directions. Today many think ALL old hulks or part of hulks should be restored to 100% showroom stock.

The rodders used to find these abandoned cars in the 50-60s and make modified cars out of them especially since they were non-running or as in the pic without the engine or other parts.

It's all relative since in 1960 they were just a bunch of rotting old cars with no particular value at all.

They'd freak even seeing the Fiat 500 since they are popularist little cars too.

In those days Hot Rodding was breathing new life into old rotting cars… now most Hot Rodders want clean cars ie restored or stock cars that have been cared for many years. No classic is safe from most Hot Rodders… there are still some old school Hot Rodders who will take a beat up old car and make it something fun but, there’s that other camp who have very little respect for history and will take a perfectly clean original car from some old lady and do the unmentionable.

My self, I enjoy seeing a classic or vintage car in it’s original shape… not restored. Even some that are rusty and kind of beat up… it’s fun to see that! Very depression era to see a 20’s car all dirty and ready for a fun time… wait, that sounds bad. lol I recall seeing a ’36 Ford two door all rusty, cracked windows and black bias ply tires… looked like it was right out of a farmer’s field… and it drove!!! They had “California or BUST” written on the trunk! It was amazing!

Good night nurse, those were some healthy choppers on that young lass.
Any data on the photo - dates, names, etc.?

Nylin's Shoe Store was evidently in San Jose, CA.
The car seems to be a 1927 Oldsmobile.

Oh, Hans-Josef Fell´s look in the future is extremly ugly, all those little electro-cars and huge big solar cells shivers me
