I've been meaning to do this for awhile. I have a few documents that haven't escaped time without some wear and tear. Before they disintegrate completely, I scanned them and now I'd really like to know what kind of documents they are and what they say. Most have my great-great grandfather's name on them, Albert Victor Thorning. The others look like they may have to do with his wife, my g-g grandmother, Augusta Stark. I'm guessing that some are in German and maybe Danish? Could anyone help me?? Thank you in advance.

My Fraktur script is a bit rusty, but I think the second document, and possibly the first, are vaccination records?

Fantastic!! I know that one of my g-g grandparents was born in Denmark, so that makes sense.
lol No worries! Drink some water, have a good rest...take your time. lol I appreciate the fact that you're going to take a look.

Translation

Hi!

The first one is a German vaccination record from 1888. Here is the translation:

Vaccination Record

Vaccination List No. 384

Vaccination district VII

NAME, born on October 31st, 1888, was vaccinated for the first time on June 6th, 1888. The vaccination was successful.

Through this vaccination, all legal requirements are fulfilled.

Stettin, June 13th, 1888

Dr. Bohm, General Practitioner

Comments: This form has to be signed by the doctor with his name and his title, either as “doctor” or “vaccinating doctor”.

I'll try to translate the other German documents as well...

...Jens

Second document

Hi!

The second document is a vaccination record for smallpox.

Stettin County

Record of Smallpox-Vaccination

The signing doctor confirms that Augusta Stark,

living at SOME ADDRESS, born

September 15th, 1859, daughter of Mr. Wilhelm Stark

Was vaccinated on June 6th, 1860, against smallpox by

Wilhelm Borchert

THEN THERE IS SOME PART I CAN’T READ PROPERLY, BUT I THINK IT SAYS THAT THE VACCINATION WAS SUCCESSFUL.

Stettin, June 13th, 1860

On to number three...

Third document

This one is really hard to read, but it is a church document confirming that Augusta Stark has received Confirmation on August 16th, 1873.

Zaika,
Did your g-g-gparents emigrate to America, or did their children bring those documents?
I've read where the Europeans coming through Ellis Island needed documents like those to thread the eye of the needle through Immigration.

they did immigrate to america with my great grandmother. so far, with the help of db5zx they have really filled in some gaps in my family history. from what i already knew, these certainly were for Ellis Island. it's really exciting to know exactly what these are. :)
