It's at that place at 14238 Harper just outside Detroit. Doors are at 6; you could probably still get a ticket. Face value of the tickets is $20; pretty reasonable.Samsa said:
I have the new album, "Dark Passion Play"- the new young lady (Anette Olzon) is quite good. Her voice is warmer and a bit jazzier than Tarja, who was more precise in the notes and I think had a better range. Tuomas' composing has only gotten better since Once, but the lyrics on Poet and the Pendulum in particular would have only benefited from some serious editing. The new album is pretty strong. They were able to get an actual symphony together, which adds a great deal of power to the sound. Also, judging by the credits, Marco and Emppu played a bigger role in the writing of the music, and the whole band arranged. I don't know how big of a change that is from albums past.
It was too bad though, that business with Tarja. I saw them in 2004, in Cleveland, on the Once tour with Lullacry opening. It was a wonderful show. My first real show with a mosh pit and where I had an emotional investment in the band. Plus, I waited out back and shook hands and hugged. Fantasmic, one could say.

On a Pogues kick. Just saw them one week ago in SF and they rocked my world. They played MANY of my favorite songs, and I had never seen them live before. Tickets were $65 but my pal works at the Fillmore so I got in. Hearing the song about Oliver Cromwell gives me tears.

For the last half hour, Benny Goodman's recording of If I Could Be With You One Hour Tonight has been running thru my head. This is the version with the alto solo by Toots Mondello, and Van Eps on guitar.
The odd thing is that I have not played this cut in - oh wait, it came up on my iPod shuffle a few days ago. Ah, technology. I juuust remembered.
