Cologne and perfume

I've recently fallen back in Love (not literally

) with Drakkar Noir, I remember having a bottle of it way back in the mid to late '80s when it was really popular (atleast in my neck of the woods) and always thought that it was awesome, especially in the months of cool weather. It's got a really masculine feel to it IMHO but in a modern way..unlike most of the old classics. Darn this stuff is still kind of pricey though...I would have thought that it's loss of popularity (20 years) would have caused it to be a bit cheaper, but no. It's definately on my Christmas list.

The inevitable "unscented" scent that all lotions have is very weak and, more importantly, short-lived. What I like about this is that it's absorbed by the skin really fast - I hate the shmear and smell of creams and lotions and with other after-shave balms, I used to go and wash my hands in mild disgust every time I accidentally rested my chin on them.

There's a British toiletries company (with locations spattered across the US of A) called "Lush" that makes some facial cleansers which will probably fill your need. I use one called "Phresh Pharmacy" - a horrible name, I know, and pink, but it works wonders. It takes care of oil and obviates the need for aftershave, and the scent doesn't cling. The only drawback is it runs nearly $40 per pound, but since it's only used facially, a bar lasts quite a while.

There is someone that buys the original Tabarome and re-bottles it in smaller containers so one doesn't have to spend $600 with Creed for a decade's supply. Of course, now that I've written that I don't recall the seller but I found him with Google originally.

I wear Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, Acqua di Parma, Creed's Green Irish Tweed and Creed's New Tabarome. I have, but rarely wear, Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte and Terre d'Hermes.

H'lo,

Tuscany by Aramis, in almost indetectible amounts, every day. Been using it since the '80s.

I used to alternate Tuscany with Aramis (but I grew up) and Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (but I developed an allergic reaction) and Cool Water from Davidoff (but somehow I just lost interest in it).

Over the next couple of months, I'm giving Trussardi Uomo and Quorum by Antonio Puig a fair trial. If they seem to be holding their own, they'll go into the rotation.

The best colognes, that I are amazing are the following:

1. Polo Ralph Lauren- the original green
2. Burberry-Brit (This is probably my favorite at the time)
3. Lagerfeld
4. Polo Crest (which no longer exists-which I don't get)
5. Excentric- by Alfred Dunhill - Need I Say more?

I'm a Polo man, but recently purchased 'Very Irresistible' by Givenchy. It has a hint of chocolate/mocha in it and am complimented on it quite frequently.

Caution...1872 is wickedly expensive. I bought it, and was off in some dream world. It had a great fragrance, and I somehow got through the transaction without paying any attention to the price. I didn't pay attention until the credit card statement arrived.

My signature was Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Vanille. I wore it for almost 10 years & then they changed it. They changed it to Vanille Passion first, then they changed the formula. Now it smells like perfumed water. So not good. Now I have no signature. I have a dozen different bottles & wear whatever I happen to pick up, lately it has been Yves Rocher's Mimosa.

In August, four of the leading eBay perfume/fragrance decant sellers formed their own website -- The Perfumed Court -- and offer decants of many esoteric 'fumes (and more common ones, too...) that afford you the opportunity of sniffin' without committing to a large, expensive bottle purchased blind only to discover the juice is not your "cup of tea"?! :eusa_doh:

I haven't shopped at this site yet, but I have purchased decants from two of the "girls" when they were eBay sellers and the transactions with them were always excellent. Just keep in mind when decant-shopping that 1 mL through 3 mL vials are pretty spartan the way most guys slather on cologne!!

It looks like this might be a "special" on their 8 mL decant of Vintage Tabarome???

Thanks J.B. I ended up finding them through a suggestion on the clothing forum I frequent. I ordered the 1.5 as I would just like a sampling at the moment. I wouldn't want to waste any of it

I understand what you are saying about the slathering... I would prefer that only those REALLY close to me know what I am wearing. I am not a billboard for Creed afterall... well at least I don't get paid to be! lol
