"Captain" because I was a captain in the Air Force; and "Krunch" because it's the nickname that people usually derive from my last name, Karuntzos. And finally, there's an odd familiarity about them when combined together....

A few years ago I had a boyfriend who read all of the "Stainless Steel Rat" books - Harry Harrison I think? Apparently the main character in the books referred to the female interest (named Angel?) with variations on the angel theme. "Angelicious" was one of them, and said boyfriend called me it often enough that it stuck for a while.

I'm not exactly sure why I picked that for the Lounge, except that none of my other net names seemed to sound right in this forum. :)

My explanation is rather boring. The first time I discovered a message board on the internet was Indyfan.com and decided to join, I couldn't bring myself to pick a name like Indy this or that. In fact, since I had never seen a board before, the names seemed rather silly at the time...so I just used my initials.

If I had known that I was going to be using this name ten years later....and probably for decades to come, I would have picked something more clever. Most places I go to register tell me it either is too short or that it is taken. The upside is that every blue moon I will be in a bookstore or standing in line at the theater and someone will recognize me from the internet. They will come up and say "are you MK?". That is better when you are with with friends or colleagues than "ARE YOU YODA THE WHIPCRACKING WIZARD?" ;)

Doe is a nickname that a few of my friends and colleagues began using. It is short for Dorinda. I don't prefer nicknames, but I felt comfy with Doe and it's easier for people to say and remember.

Brando's reference to a Brody refers specifically to Steve Brody, who in 1886 claimed to have jumped off the off the newly minted Brooklyn Bridge and survived. For many years afterward to take a fall and survive intact was known as "doin' a Brody." Incidentally, immediately following the "stunt" Brody opened a must-visit saloon and became one of the world's first superstars through worldwide lecture tours and paid personal appearances, despite the fact that there were no credible witnesses to his plunge, which he never repeated.

When my interest in vintage fedoras first began, I started rating movies, new or old, two ways: 1.) Was it a good movie, a recommend? 2.) Was it a hat flick? 'Chinatown', of course, rates four stars in both categories. Or, a hatflick1.

I have had my AIM screenname, PaleDahlia, for a while, and I decided to use Dahlia here. For some reason Dahlia reminds me of my real name, Darcy (except Dahlia sounds more feminine and is also a flower); I chose "Pale" for my AIM name because, well, I'm not into the whole tanning fad. :p

Well, I've only looked at some of the anagrams and found:

Rag Doll Thinker

Rang Thrilled OK

Rant God Hell Irk

A Red Knight Roll

I think I am torn between a ranting god and the rag doll....

My screen name is my name. Matei is the Romanian version of Matthew... I use Matthew/Matt when I introduce myself to English speakers, but with family it is always Matei... or Mateias (mateiash - diminutive)...

My wife had eye sugrey and had this plastic patch on her eye. I called her Captain Crunch for a day and a half before she figured out why.

One of my favorite movies is the Maltese falcon, and since I thought somebody might be using Sam Spade, I combined Sam Spade and Miles Archer, so my username is Sam Archer.

Isn’t a tough one, no brainer, John Wayne’s 1953 western “Hondo shades of Alan Ladd’s “Shane, I just mean a loner comes out to help some woman; Might even add Clint Eastwoods “Pale Rider. I've been known to do the same from time to time, then ride off into the sunset, Anyway I picked this nic as a good screen name, also known as "Big H", I'm 6 ft 2", I’m sure a favorite to many. :cheers1:

I went to college with a guy who had the biggest Napolean complex of anyone I ever met (he was about 5'5"). Since I am 6'5" and weighed about 240 lbs, he often would stop in the middle of a conversation, look up @ me and say, "Y'know, you're a pretty big guy!". For some reason it always stuck in my mind. Later in my life when I was working in computer graphics, I was thinking about what I would call a production company if I ever started one. I thought that PrettyBigGuy Productions had a good ring to it! I never started the company, but the name has lived on as my message board handle.

The name on the bands of cigars that I usually smoke, became my handle on a few cigar websites.
