Then and now ...

Just out of curiosity ...

These are some pictures of my great uncle Briscoe Brown's house at 2204 Spencer Street, Napa, CA. They lived here from (at least) 1941 until 1956. I was just wondering if any fellow Loungers may live in or near Napa, and would take a picture of whatever is located at 2204 Spencer St. today. I think it would be interesting to see what changes may have taken place over the years. Also, if anyone should have a house, building, or place near me, I'd be glad to take a "now" picture.

Show them the old picture and they just might do it. If it were me, I would. But then maybe it's a different attitude where I live than "out there". [huh]

I have no idea what is on that corner today. It would be interesting to see if that old house were still there, or what changes to the area have taken place over the years.

Well, here is a "then and now" photo to start things off. I work at Broughtonn Hospital. The hospital was built in 1875, and we are still in the original building (with renovations, of course). These two views are of the front of the main building. When we opened, we were called the "Western North Carolina Insane Asylum". In about 1890, the name was changed to the "State Hospital at Morganton". This name was again changed in 1959 to "Broughton Hospital."

I never thought about this sort of thing, but we go to Crossville Tn. every year for reunion. Crossville is the home of the rail station that was in the movie Sgt. York. The station is now a gift shop but still pretty neat.

Your relations in Crossville wouldn't by chance be involved in 18th century/Scottish living history/reenactments, would they? By way of a friend, I know some folks that live there who have a Florida connection. Just wondering.

Here are some then and now pictures of the Allen County (Indiana) Court House. It is located in my hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Whatever the case, those trees sure have grown in all those years. You can't even see the house from the sky because of the trees.

Nope, they are my inlaws and grew up in the homesteads.

We all go up every summer to the farmhouse and stay for a week. The farmhouse is a couple houses down from the Yorks though. I don't know how far they are removed from the famous york though.

Here's an interesting "then and now" picture. My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary. Here we are (were) in 1988 and here we are now in 2013. Guess which one of us hasn't changed one little bit in 25 years.
