I love sweater knits, I tend to go for short sleeves as I think those are the cutest. However I struggle to find ones without any wool as I'm extremely allergic to it! One of my sweaters is wool mix but I wear a thin camisole underneath and not think about the itching round my neck(it's actually the one in my aviatar!)! I tend to wear them with anything - from pencil skirts and circle dress to jeans!

Yes, I love sweaters also. I wear mine with wide leg pants, skirts. They are so comfortable and stylish as well.

Help! (sweater search)

Hello lovelies,

I just came back from visiting a school in Olympia, WA, and I stumbled across a little boutique that sold an adorable line of sweaters. I couldn't afford to splurge on one at the time, but I'd like to invest. They're little pullover sweaters with insects painted on them.

I completely forgot what the label was, and I can't find them on the internet under any of the keywords I'm trying!

Is anyone familiar with this product?

Do you remember the name of the boutique at all or what street it was on or even what it was near? You can find them on Google maps and call to get the brand of the sweater.

Ooh, I found the boutique: Hot Toddy. Now I remember the sweater label being "Hot Toddy," which probably explains why I can't find it on the internet! Sad.

They have a website, www.hottoddyolympia.com, but almost nothing for sale on it, unfortunately. But at their store they sell a lot of Lounge-friendly labels like Stop Staring and EC Star.

Reviving an old thread...
It's that time of year again and I need to start re-stocking my sweater pile.Spotted one of my coworkers wearing the cutest kelly green sweater with a navy argyle print,which she said she picked up at Target.
Also,I want to add wideleg trousers to the want list to wear as an alternative to skirts.

I have the hardes time finding cute retro sweaters. If anyone has any suggestions on were to look please let me know. Living in Minnesota I really need to wear sweaters I just don't seem to be able to pull it off.

I picked up a red and navy argyle cardi at JC Penny a few weeks back to wear with grey sailor pants. I'm always scouring the thrift stores for vintage ones and I'm usually lucky evey couple of weeks.

I have a hard time finding non-1980s (or "theme") sweaters. They did have a Kelly green cardigan by Gap (for $2.00) at my local thrift store awhile back. I wanted it sooo bad, but green isn't my color.

Speaking of the Gap...

I work there and they always come out with a couple styles of cardigans every season. This just came out for holiday and is smoothy soft with 15% cashmere. Has vintagey cropped length and crew neck too. I'm going to make an A-line skirt to go with it for Christmas!

I love sweaters! I live in them in the winter. Most of what I have been buying are vintage and vintage inspired styles. A lot have delicate beading, bows at the neck, fur collars (not all together though lol ). I usually wear with dress pants or pencil skirts, but I will also throw on with jeans. I prefer 3/4 sleeves, because I am eternally pushing them back anyhow.

It can be hard for me to find things, as I have lately only been buying cashmere and silk sweaters, manmade fabrics make me smelly (sorry TMI lol), and I've been too spoiled with the cashmere to go back to the roughness of cotton.

I've had really great luck on ebay, and the occational thrift find.

I love sweaters -- especially cable knit in either cotton or good wool, cashmere or cotton crewneck or mock turtles. Fisherman's sweaters.

Just bought a couple of good sweaters off eBay, a red cotton mock-T Coldwater Creek and a pretty yellow Tommy Hilfiger ribbed mock-T. Both are heavy, both are welcome this week as it is nasty cold outside with 4 inches of snow on the ground.

My favorite sweater of all was an old backpacking sweater I got at a camping goods store back in the 70's. It was a camel color, pure wool, still had it lanolin in it and I could wear outside in 10 below zero weather with a T-neck and thermal undershirt and was warm as toast. I finally outgrew it size-wise or would still have it. When I go to outdoor stores now, everything is fleece or goretex and you can hardly find those good old lanolin sweaters any more.

But, my cotton ones are good and heavy, so I am happy with them.

I love my cardis! I have the best luck finding vintage sweaters at old hospital and church thrift stores. My friends and I take weekends at a time and just go from thrift store to thrift store digging. The stores that are only open on a wednesday and saturday (or other random days of the week) are usually where we find our best prizes. Mainly because they are inconvenient for most folks who shop second hand stores. Those people would rather go to the Salvation Army or Goodwill because they are open more frequently.

I'm suprised I'm the only one here who wears sweaters the way I do. I read an article which interviewed Marilyn Monroe once. She told the reporters that she prefers to wear her cashmere cardigans BACKWARDS and with the top one or two buttons opened for "flair". It didn't show a picture of her in this sweater, but I could picture it: tight-ish sweater, waist length, pushed up or 3/4 sleeves, over a slinky tank. I tried it out, and I don't think I'll ever be able to wear a cardi any other way. It has a certain appeal to it!

And it's strangely sexy in a less revealing way!
