Since I've grown my hair out I've noticed that it tangles like CRAZY. No joke, it tangles when it's wet, when it's dry, when I just brushed it out, etc. It's so annoying to have to pick little dreds out of my hair all the time.

Ugh! Tell me about it! Except I have naturally curly hair, which takes forever to grow, and knots like mad!!

But I will perservere - I want Kate Winslet "sense and sensibility" hair. Which, in essence, probably takes "vintage" way too far!!

i'm growing out my perm it really awfull,

I have curly hair of my own but when you're a hairdresser you do somethimes things.
I have to do so much on my hair to make it look good, and it is so frizzy,
and then the dutch weather I look like a scarecrow.

anyway my roots are now for 6 cm normal hair again and its shiny, so welcome home healthy hair.

This time last year I was really ill & about 2/3 of my hair fell out, so I had to get my mum to shave my head. So I'm desperately growing my hair out! It's shoulder-length now, so it's growing pretty well & definately beats the wigs I've had to wear all year! You can't go too many vintage styles with a wig :p But I love long hair, it's so pretty & feminine. At least my new hair is really healthy because it's never been dyed or had heated appliances used on it.

Ahhh, yes. I've been trying to grow my hair out for a very long time. My hair is currently around bra strap length. (mid-back) While it seems really long to many people, it's about 2-3 inches shorter than my goal. I have always wanted waist length hair. I haven't cut my hair since 2000. Seriously, I had my hair cut up to a bob in 2000. I've only had minor mini-trims since then. My biggest problem is bleach and heat tools. It's amazing how I could grow my hair for almost 8 years and I still am where I was about 3-4 years ago. OH THE PAIN!!!:(

I am and it's a total pain! A stylist slaughtered my hair a year ago and I got my last trim about 6 months ago. I have naturally curly hair so I have about 3.5-4" of shrinkage when it dries. I refrain from straightening it now because I got depressed when I see the actual length (right above my shoulders when it's curly, 4" past when I straighten).

Count me in the club as well. My hair was always between shoulders and chin. Any longer and it looked terrible. Course but thin. And oh the breakage due to the styling and the coloring.
I've been off the curling iron for a couple of years now and only use rollers for curls these days. I also condition the heck out of it. I cannot believe how much it has changed for the better. It is finally about to my bra-line when straight. I like myself much better with long hair for the versatility. I have wanted to take pre-natals/folic and am now reminded again that this might help.

Ohh, I know this pain! I had my hair cut in a graduated bob around a year and a half ago (WAY before Victoria Beckham ever thought of it), and it's only grown down to my collarbones so far! I've had it cut twice in the meantime (awful, I know), but these were only trims. My hair grows painfully slowly.

I've had my hair bobbed (it looked horrible and people called me boy) to having my hair down past my waist.

I got it cut to the hairdresser's recommend length recently (shoulder length), and it looks fine.

But I don't really think it's a great improvement, so I also am on the growing out the hair bandwagon so I can again do the fancy braids and hairstyles I do know how to do (all two of them :) )

Vitamins do help with growing your hair faster. If you go to the health food store, there are even natural vitamins specifically designed to help you grow your hair faster too.

:eek:fftopic: Oh! And before I forget - if any ladies (or gentlemen) are reading this thread and thinking about CUTTING your hair and it's really long - consider donating your long hair to the American Cancer Society. You can drop it off or mail it in, and cancer patients get free wigs made from your hair. Please note there is a hair length minimum to donate your hair swatch. Just a thought.

Has anyone tried potato?
Me and my sister were going through much stress a few years ago and our hair was falling out.A friend of the family recommended this treatment to us.
It works very well:)

1 russet potato peeled and diced
put in blender with 1/2 cup purified water
blend till liquified
let sit about 15 minutes
remove excess foam
use remainder potato and pour directly on scalp and massage
wrap hair in towel/shower cap
leave on about 45 minutes
then rinse thouroughly
then shampoo
please make sure to rinse well or it will look like you have dandruff.

You should notice regrowth and hair will have great volume and shine.

Me too...

On a whim, I got my first shorter cut in years this spring - like Ruby Keeler. It was cute, but ultimately frustrating. I have a huge Spanish comb collection, and couldn't wear them until recently (and even now, I have to add fake hair).
Now I have crazy layers to contend with, so my waves and curls end up in odd places. But I am holding off as long as possible to get them evened out so that I won't be back to square one with the bob...
Gotta try the potato trick! It sounds interesting.

I have almost always had long hair. My mom kept my hair as long as it would grow when I was a child, and I pretty much have kept it between bra strap and tail bone length my whole life (except for two occations when I chopped to my chin, which looked cute but was way to much maintenance).

I have been blessed with nice hair, but I also try to keep it in as good a condition as possible. I only wash every other day, I use moisturizing S/C (I like Dove, Kenra, and YesToCarrots), I never blow dry and I sleep with it twisted up in a satin cap. I get highlights twice-a-year and get a haircut at the same time. Never have split ends.

Recently I bought THE brush, a Mason-Pearson. I originally thought it would be silly to spend that much money on a brush, but I found a fantastic deal on ebay and I gave it a whorl. Ladies...this brush is fantastic, I got a little velvet pouch for it, and every time I brush my hair I feel so pampered, and its made my hair look even smoother and silkyier because it really gets to the scalp and distributes your natural oils.

A few years ago I got a Mason Pearson brush as a gift (which is lucky, because I would never be able to afford one myself!). It...is...heaven. My hair has been in much better condition since, and even my scalp feels like it's healthier. [huh]

I've been eyeing Mason Pearson brushes too--there's a great shop in Cambridge that stocks them and I'd like to support them by buying it there (if I ever do).

Well, girls, I feel a little guilty about this since I started this thread but I'm getting my hair cut short on Monday. How short? I'm conflicted on that point right now so we'll see. I love it long but when I was sick earlier this year one of the side effects of the medication I was taking was a decent amount of hair loss so it looks a little thin to me. I figure if I get it cut it can all grow out evenly again. I just hope I can communicate clearly with the hairdresser--my friends have had good luck with her.

Yes,I am. I'm growing out my bangs they are now down to the point of my nose, and they seem to be taking forever.

Waiting is so inhumane!

Why can't we just snap our fingers and have the hairstyle(s) we want? lol
