For Pulp fans

I stumbled upon this site that carries reprints of the old classic pulps...

What lead me there was seeing a collection of stories featuring Wade Hammond from the 1930s on Amazon. It turns out there are 3 volumes out. Up until today, I had never heard of him.

But who can resist this description?

I have bought stuff from them. Great stuff. I haven't read any Wade Hammond but that intrigues me.

I love this stuff! Also original sci-fi pulp mags like Weird Tales, Amazing Wonder Stories etc.. not to mention, the golden age Marvel Comics (from the 30's/40's) featuring the original Human Torch, Sub-mariner, the Angel a ton of various characters that fight 30 feet tall walking corpses or Nazi's or mad scientists in haunted houses etc etc....! Nuts aaaand vonderful!

Just an idea ... has there been a storyline where the evil scientist actually wins and the good guys are defeated horribly? That would be refreshing.

I picked this up in a cool little art bookshop in Soho the other day - it's absolutely wonderful, particularly the illustrations of the violent adventures of El Hombre Invisibile!

The Empire Strikes Back is the only one I can think of...and then, of course, in the next installment the Jedi returned and order was restored to the universe and the forest was full of gamboling joyous furry creatures.

I remember at the end of Empire, though, how shocked we kids were. The bad guys won? And yet...refreshing, yeah.

I so want to be in this..... I've laways wanted to play a Wehrmacht officer - either a really evil, pro-Hitler SS type guy, or one of the noble Wehrmacht types that hates what the Fuhrer is doing.... Villains are always great fun to play, though i think anti-heroes can be just as deep.
