...I can't understand how someone can look at that in a mirror and say, 'Hah! That looks great! I'm definitely wearing it to work tomorrow!"

I suppose there's a bit of 'screw you, convention' in there, but it misses that boat and wades deep into the absurd.

Boy, you've grown so tall since I last visited! So nice you wear the suit I gave you for your 11th birthday!

Here, I made you a pair of nice, warm socks. And stand upright, young man!

I was watching "Full Frontal Fashion" the other night (with the sound off, rotating between football, baseball and FFF). They had the Spring 2008 shows from Bryant Park from a few weeks ago. After the women's fashions they showed some "men's fashions". Really hilariously, grotesquely, appallingly, disgustingly, bizarrely bad stuff. MUCH worse than this. I think there's some little niche somewhere in the fashionista world that keeps creating this nonsense that has nothing to do with real men's fashion. Just ignore it. It won't go away, but it has no significance in the real world. It's just designers designing men's clothes as if the criteria for men's clothes were the same as for women's clothes. Pure fantasy.

Very, very true. In this case, the Thom Browne look is just that side of acceptable that it's trickling down out of his portfolio and being distilled in a less extreme degree into what we're seeing on the racks.

Give it another 6 to 10 years and the pendulum will swing again. Escalation being a terrible thing, however, it'll probably be ugly in another way. It seems in the fashion world that if you're going to do something different, fresh or bold, you've got to be more offensive than whoever had center stage before you.

The THOM BROWNE style is quite appealing to a demographic that is thin, fashionable & has plenty of disposible income.
Not that theres anything wrong with that.
There was a time when long hair on men drew comments.
of for that matter , Elvis' long sideburns.

I see a difference between what is put on the runway and what makes it to the stores and on the backs of men.
This Thom Brown look is a blessing in disguise for those who like slim cut suits. The trickle down effect has already begun as designers cut their suit slimmer. Not to mention the thin ties and slim cut shirts to accompany the suits.
Break out your narrow brim hats, it is going to be a great couple of seasons.

Has anyone seen that Men's Warehouse commercial decipting the guy with the ill-fitting suit?

That is exactly what this guy reminds me of...

Just a bump for the new year.
Found this picture in an old book I purchased on silent film.

Has anyone purchased any of these slim cut, ultra short suits?
