The whole Bombay chain has gone under. Each store is selling off its inventory. If you like the old-school British raj kind of stuff, you probably can get some smoking deals.

I noticed around Christmas time that they were no longer in business :(. Their was a great store in our local mall. Do you know if they selling anything online on other websites (their primary websites are no longer offering merchandise), or is everything being sold in their physical stores?

My local store is already completely picked over, as of 2 weeks ago it only had a couple paintings and store fixtures left. So sad, too, this was one of my favorite stores. Wish I'd managed to score a great deal, to ease the pain.

Does anyone know the story behind the closing? Did they sell to another company, or did they simply close because sales were down? I'm hoping that it is the former and that there will be similar products available down the road through a new company.

We were in a local Bombay Co a few weeks back. And oh my, the deals! We almost bought a King size Metal bed frame (head and foot board included with frame) for $150.

Yep, I do. Total bankruptcy. Selling off all the inventory. Closing all the stores. Just sold the rights to the "intellectual properties" (name) to another company recently. Stock closed yesterday at a whopping 1.5 cents per share. It wasn't that sales were down - it was that sales were almost non-existent while expenses continued to climb, and management not really doing anything about it until there was nothing left but bankruptcy.
