For anyone who has been looking into adding a nice 3-piece to their collection; I highly reccomend that you stop by eBay and do a quick search under "vintage suit" (men's clothing). Hundreds of 3-pieces. I'm not even joking when I say that 90% of the results will be the 3-piece.

I'm not sure what happened...if someone found a stock, if the custom tailors are having fun with the repros, or if we're actually making our impresison on the fashion industry, but all of a sudden these suits are indredibly popular among the bay.

Alot of them are from the 70's, but personally I love 70's suits when done right. And these ones are.

Check it out!

OKay, I just ran that search and got practically nothing. Specifically I got two ruffled tuxedo shirts, 5 suits all of which are two-piece 70's vintage (one is BRIGHT RED and purportedly German), and some Suit Skirt patterns by Simplicity. Oh, and two pair of vintage walking shorts.

I was really bummed out and it's all your fault sir. :(

I'm gonna' go get my pout on and shop for hats.

Good evening.

Mark
.

EDIT: In all fairness, a search for "3-piece suit" in men's clothing did turn up a bounty. Not sure if they are my size though.

EDIT EDIT: What's with the waistcoat that buttons at the throat?

Well I'm dreadfuly sorry to hear about your misfortune. I don't know what happened, but this is what I did; I typed "vintage suit" in the search, and then narrowed the results by clicking "men's clothing". I got at least 50 3-pieces (I was exaggerating earlier).

I did several searches with different search terms and found plenty of vintage suits, both 2-piece and 3-piece. Also found not one but two 1920s men's wool swim suits (# & # if anyone is interested).

A good majority of the ebay custom tailors will label thier suits under "vintage style".

Not really sure why we're dragging this out so much, but okay...

Honestly, the eBay sellers have no interest in what FLoungers say, think, or do. 3-piece suits have always been around on eBay. Since i started using eBay they have been abundant - the badly fitting ones with the truly abysmally styled waistcoats made in terrible fabrics abound.

I see a lot of similar claims re: modern production hats (that they are changing their hat styles because of the FLounge) up in the hat section. I can't describe how ridiculous and pretentious these things sound.

They weren't links - just the auction numbers. I'll try them again and see what happens.

Live Ebay links/numbers are not allowed. -Feraud

Thanks, Feraud - now I understand. I'd misunderstood the rule to mean no posting of eBay 'Live Auctions'. Duh. Won't happen again.

No problem. Btw, you can post a link to an auction that has ended. Such links can be used as a reference for period pieces.
