Dammit, I am really sorry to hear that. :(

Besides his performing and recording accomplishments, Jeff did something he didn't like to talk about much, which was collecting and preserving vintage 78s of many kinds of pop and jazz musics. I and some of my fellow collector-types were privileged to get many burns and dubs from Jeff.

He was a connaisseur and fan to a degree you seldom find amongst musicians - especially well-known musicians - and he had that keen appreciation of sound for its own sake that sight-impaired people often make the most of.

I am absolutely speechless.

I saw Jeff perform 3 years ago at our local jazz fest. I have said on many , many occasions that it was without a doubt the most amazing musical experience of my life.

Just yesterday, i was digging through my CD's trying to find my mislaid copy of "Adventures in Jazzland". I had no idea whatsoever that he was ill, even.

....I am just sitting here, stunned.

wow, how sad.

I hadn't realized his blindness was due to cancer.

He may have gotten a real bum deal in the health dept. but man did he make the most of those 41 years. He was quite a player.

So sad. I happen to own a Jeff Healy album. Ironically it's titled "See The Light". I'm listening to it now. Didn't realize how good his music was.

So many contemporary musicians have been passing on lately. Including Dan Fogelberg, and just the other day Mike Smith, the frontman of The Dave Clark Five. To me they were England's finest 60's British Invasion Band!

Tribute

I just heard that a tribute to Healy will be aired tonight on Star (I do not know if that is cable or radio) at 7:30 pm eastern.

My recommendation: Listen & Enjoy
