harkens back to the good old days before television, when folks would
cozy up to the radio, and step into a world of sweet sounds and
imagination. Rich Conaty's "The Big Broadcast" is a rare gem, the
only of it's kind, featuring solely the music of the '20s and '30s.
It's a fun and romantic way to wind down a Sunday evening.

The show is in danger of going off the air, and needs your support.
If this happens, Britney Spears and Ricky Martin will inherit the
earth. I have included Mr. Conaty's words below.

"I started 'The Big Broadcast' in January 1973. Each Sunday
(8-midnight) I play jazz
and pop recordings from the 1920s and early 1930s. There are
occasional excursions
to the teens and '40s, as well as contemporary recordings, but the
focus of the show
has always been Bix, Louis, Bing, the Dorseys, plus English and US
dance bands. The
show is birthday-driven, and I've had as many as seven songwriters,
plus singers and
instrumentalists, on a single program. For October 23 it's Fanny
Brice, Eddie Lang
and the songs of Sam M. Lewis."

"Give'The Big Broadcast' a listen some Sunday night, but be
forewarned we're
fundraising on October 30 and November 6. If you're in the New York
City area, you

That's a fantastic program that gets my support. Best enjoyed with a martini. Or two.

I think I have recommended The Big Broadcast here in the past - it's a fanastic resource and a tremendous pleasure! Rich plays an incredible range of jaw-dropping and frequently obscure (if not altogether forgotten) stuff, plus more familiar jazz and pop recordings.

Being in New York, I usually hear it over WFUV-FM, but since they also stream over wfuv.org, everybody with even a vague interest in the pop music of the 20s and 30s should make a point of checking it out... Sunday nights 8-12, NYC time.
