I checked at my local B\N and they told me they never heard of it and did not look like they would have it.
I told them that was wrong as I had bought an extra first issue at that very store [I have a subscribtion{I hope}] and had also seen the Fall issue there.
Makes me wonder what is up.
great magazine, I hope all is OK with it.
A bit of advice from an old general in the B&N army: never trust what they tell you about magazines. Due to the way that they are received, it's damn near impossible to tell what you carry at present, and slightly nearer to it to tell what you have carried in the past. The system is unreliable at best.

This forum is basically ground zero for Classic Style. The fact that this topic has gone unanswered here for over a month is curious at best, considering that there are people here who, at the least, should be privy to whatever developments (or lack thereof) have occurred.

Has anyone called the number up above? [huh]

I just did, and the official word is: It's "on hiatus"; its "future is uncertain"; that future depends on new advertising dollars.

That is pretty much what I expected, and I don't think it bodes well for the likely continuance of Classic Style as a print publication. Such publications are getting too expensive to launch and keep afloat; the action is moving to the web. I don't know whether Michael Key would have any interest in making Classic Style a web publication, though, since it probably still wouldn't be any kind of money-maker in that format. I suspect this is why Matt Deckard and others have put their weight behind the webzine The Cad -- as an alternative "moving forward," unencumbered by high overhead or the profit motive.

Sorry for the lack of information. No one is trying to be tight lipped. It is just hard to give an answer to a question you don't know an answer to.

With a few exceptions, Classic Style has not been supported very well from advertisers. A magazine such as this can only survive if there is an advertising universe that supports it. Mainstream companies have been shy.

We did put the magazine on hold for a short time to firm up our other divisions that had been strained to float CS along.

Right now we are looking to publish issue five. I really want to do this because it is the best by far. It would be a shame if out staff were the only ones who ever see it. It all depends of advertisiers.

I appreciate those who have subscribed and supported Classic Style in other ways. If we can do it, we will. I should know in a week or so.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks MK, we hope for the best!!!:eusa_clap
I'll second that one!! Keep at 'em MK...no retreat, no surrender. :cheers1:

Worst case scenario - take everything ever published in Classic Style (and everything ever intended) and turn it into a great book. We'll buy it!!

MK, like everyone else I really want to see this issue on the newstands. If that doesn't happen, perhaps you could release it as a pdf so that all the fans of Classic Style could still see your best issue yet.

Thanks for making a go of this in the first place. We all need to support those who are promoting true Classic Style.

I missed all the fun because I didn't renew my subscription. I loved the photos, but 5,000 dollar suits just didn't connect with my world.

I don't think that comment is fair. Unlike other men's magazines, Classic Style went out of its way to present a realistic range of pricing, and even ran a feature on how to look good in a suit for a minimal investment. I for one greatly appreciated this philosophy.

I hope that MK is able to keep it going. I enjoyed the magazine and have a subscription; but more than that, I gave my son a subscription for his birthday a few months ago. It was helping me get him interested in dressing well.

If the magazine stops publication, will subscribers (that don't hang out here) be notified of it or will they be left wondering why their next issue hasn't arrived?

Cheers,
Tom

I have been wondering about this for a while. I emailed but got no answer.I subscribed for 2yrs at the beginning. So what happens if there is no second year?
I liked the magazine but I wished there was more in it for the girls. I didn't realize it was a strictly "guys" magazine when I subscribed. I guess I should have figured since there are more gents on here then ladies.[huh]
