You look amazing! Sooo beautiful!

I did wonky rolls a la Alexandra yesterday & wore my snood. People kept looking at me funny & my friends found it hilarious that I was the 40s. They don't often see me out of my pyjamas...

Anyway, I love the wonky rolls thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And ShortClara, your hair is very pretty, I love the colour!!

I'm really leaning toward cutting my hair off, to get rid of the henna and go back to the grey/ash brown. I'm a bit tired of coloring the roots every 2 weeks (it's more time intensive than boxed dyes), and I miss my curls (henna has coated the hair so much the curl has been smoothed out), and I really want hair like my mom's or Emmy Lou Harris', and I'm not feeling the red love like I was when I started a few years ago, though I still like red hair very much.

But I'm not going to be able to let it grow out with a big stripe of grey, so I'll have to get it cut SHORT. I had it way short in High School, and I think I will take a few pictures of the short 50's styles (Sofia Loren, etc) to the stylist. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say here, if I'm just rammbling to work it all out in my head, but if you all have any favorite short hair styles I'd love to see them (short as in nothing with long bangs like Twiggy), or if you have any advice. I likely wouldn't get it done until after my birthday (May 18). I can also take a pic of my hair so you can see how much grey I'm dealing with and why I think it would have to be short. :)

Josephine, I had to grow Henna out a few years ago. Just treat yourself to some nice hair pieces and hats. It will be worth it in the long run.

Shortclara, Im not suprised youre still loving your new cut, you look lovely:)

Alexandra, the wonky rolls are great. Tess, I wish iI could pin my hair that neatly at the back, I always end up with a real mess and just give up.

Josephine, Nikki recommended Pravana color remover to me when I went from red like yours to blonde. I ended up a fabulous apricot with blonde streaked in. Nikki or anyone else, would the Pravana work on Henna?

I understand what you mean, I loved my red too, but after many years it became tiresome to upkeep. I think your mom's white hair is just lovely :)

Thanks for the compliments! :) I'm chuffed! (*UK Ladies, did I use chuffed correctly? :D)

Josephine, I've heard that Wash&Go shampoo is excellent for stripping out henna. But it might be difficult to get out if your hair is really saturated with pigment. You could check the Henna for Hair forum, they will probably be glad to help.
Ooh, I feel so tempted to henna my hair now, after seeing your pic :) Kills the frizzies, too.

Thanks for all the ideas, unfortunately I don't think that anything would be enough to strip it out, there would always be that sharp dividing line of grey and red. And also unfortunately, most of my grey is around my face so it will be very noticeable. I don't mind cutting my hair short, I've always been in the "It's only hair, it will grow" camp, at least for me. :)

BOSTON! LETS GO PATRIOTS!!!
I haven't done victory rolls in ages, but the other day I decided to do them while playing around with hair and makeup. Had Hem take some photos for me, I'm pretty pleased with the way that they came out considering it's been almost a year since I've done them.
I also figured out a few things that make it a bit easier for me to do. I used to really spray up the hair that I was going to roll. I thought it would help keep them nice and tidy. But, the hair was sticky making it very difficult for me to remove my fingers after the roll was in place. This time I just teased the hair that I was going to roll and I got a nice very tight roll on the first try. I also am happy with the angle of them. I've got a lot of hair, so it's difficult to get a roll that isn't super puffy and I used to never be able to angle them downward along the line of my head. I just feel silly having these giant rolls sticking out of the side of my head like two horns. They look so much better when they are contoured and not too big. I also used to spray the heck out of them in fear of my many fly away. But now I use very little spray and can get away with using just 3 bobby pins which is good considering the amount of hair I have in the rolls. I was happy that for the first time my rolls stayed in place and didn't look crunch from too much product.
Ooooh, Bed Head makes this wonderful pomade that you can use for many different things. I put it in as a leave in conditioner, but it can be used as a hair tamer on dry hair too. I put a tiny amount on the area to be rolled just before rolling and it made my hair so very smooth. Added bonus is it smell delicious!! Like sweet tarts, it's fantastic! Like I said it's a product by Bed Head, I'll have to get the name for you ladies later since I don't have the bottle in front of me. But Shelley my hair stylist gave me a bottle of it and I love it. She's got the greatest vintage hair styles and if she uses it, it's gotta be good. It's so awesome on my poker straight hair, it makes it so incredibly shiny, and my bangs get this awesome glow to them helping to bring out my new red hair:) (not red in these pics, had it done after these were taken) I'll be going even redder in 5 weeks. She's all about doing color processing in layers to get the exact tone that I want, but I'm slowly but surely becoming a red head, yippee!!!

OK, so after my typical too long of a rant, here's my hair from the other day with rolls that I'm a bit proud of:) I put the rolls in first then set the rest of my hair in hot rollers to get larger and looser curls. The very tight curls make me look like a mop head, but I really like the curls that I achieve with my hot curlers, and it's so much easier to do then setting my hair the night before and trying to sleep in curlers. Also, one more thing, any of you ladies who do throw a few hot curlers in your hair to freshen up your sets. Shelley gave me these rather large plastic claw clips that can be bought at any beauty supply shoppe. They make holding curlers in place sooooo much easier, meaning a faster set. The little clips that come with the curlers are terrible, at least to me they are, so I'm getting much nicer curls with my conair hot curlers using the large claw clips. I'll try to find a picture of them online somewhere just in case some of you ladies haven't seen them I know you're very knowledgeable of hair styling tips and tricks, but I just thought I'd mention these just in case you hadn't heard of them. I used to hate using my hot curlers, but now I curl my hair every day with them, and my sets go in super quickly too.

OK, this time my rant is really over!!!lol
I wish that I had a better shot of the top and straight on, these pics don't do them justice!!

This how I went to work today, everybody loved it

Wow!! You're hair looks great! You look great!!!
Love your hair color too. As I said in my above post, I'm slowly going red, it's a layering process for me so I can get to the exact color I want, but your red is the perfect shade, and hopefully by my next appointment I'll be that red. I'll have to have some shots done of what my color looks like now, since I just had another color done since the above pics were taken. I love that my hair stylist is taking the time to build up color in my hair so I can get to the exact color I want, but I've been doing this since November and I'm so ready to be red already!!!
I hope you don't mind but I'm gonna show her a pic of your color, it's exactly what I want. We have a picture of some celebrity that has the exact shade of red that I want, but her hair has some strange highlights to it that I don't want. I want multi-tonal color, but not bold highlights of a totally different shade. I want subtle differences that all blend together to form that perfect shade of red. Not a bright red, since my skin tone wouldn't look right with that, but a bold auburn red, a deep red, different shades of a deep auburn all blended together to create a nice deep red. I think you've achieved this to perfection!!!

Yes, all these rolls are so pretty! I'm not really into doing them, too work intensive for me :p but I do so admire looking at them here.

WOW! Everyone's hair looks devine!!

Daisy you will make a fabulous redhead, I can't wait to see! Has she been foiling in the red to eventually get you there? Good call!

I'm so digging Iris' videos. I've always twirled/rolled my hair but she inspired me even more. You can see my Rosie do in that thread.

I don't remember exactly, but I'm thinking that the Pravana color extractor will not take out henna. But it wouldn't hurt to call/write their website to be sure!
Clara yours is really getting blond now, woohoo!
