It's tough to argue that the 1930s didn't represent the pinnacle of creativity in automotive design. Few regulatory restrictions and a burgeoning design and panel shaping industry meant that if someone could dream it -- and afford it -- it was possible. Now, Delahaye USA (a company which carefully claims tribute to -- rather than association with -- the late automaker Emil Delahaye) is bringing back the spirit of the '30s with new hand-crafted, coachbuilt cars with old-world aluminum bodies melded with thoroughly modern underpinnings.

Delahaye USA's goal is to create cars that embody the styling elements and driving experience of classic 1930s Delahayes and Bugattis, but with modern conveniences and reliability -- making these "classics" more driveable and enjoyable on today's roads. Flowing Figoni et Falaschi inspired bodywork is melded with power windows, cruise control, GPS systems, air conditioning, and even power rumble seats. Modern V-8, V-10, or V-12 engines will power these beauties, and the chassis even employs modern suspension and brake systems.

Very neat. Had the priviledge of seeing several Delahayes at the Curves of Steel exhibition at the Phx Art Museum last year.

I wonder why do the millionaires keep buying stuff like bugatti veyron and such, when there is THIS.
The question is - isn´t it better to buy a small plane for the money? It´s not so stylish, but the view is incomparable :)

A lady should never have limits imposed, when it comes to that noun/verb. :p

They remind me of the snazzy carthat would show up in superhero comics from the Golden Age. I would drive one of those.

Sincerely,

Those are truly breathtaking!

The thing that saddens me about gorgeous machines like that is that they're always owned by rich old guys who rarely drive them except for occasional show-off Sunday drives. Slowly.

If I could have car like that, it would be my daily driver. And call me unconscionably crass, but I'd have them drop a Shelby Cobra engine in it.

Hey, some of us are working on bringing a small plane to market that IS stylish! And...if that project is successful, I NEED one of these to drive to the airport, oh yea!

Just what I didn't need-another machine to lust after!!!

I thought the rear view made it look like the original Batmobile.

Our prices of $500,000 to $600,000 to create an entire hand built car from scratch is a great value, especially in light of the declining US dollar.
