Mascara Help

I need advice on mascara. I go from one brand to the next and I always have the same problem. After an hour or so, I start to get mascara runoffs below my eye. Is there a key to this not happening? I'm wondering if it is because I have oily skin. I would do waterproof, but I eye sensitive eyes and always wind up with red eyes using waterproof. I just bought Besame's mascara and was really disappointed that it didn't work either

What am I doing wrong?

I always get some smudges beneath my eye if I mascara my bottom lashes so I just kind of... stopped, it makes my eye look bigger too which is a pretty good bonus ^-^ Benefit make a good mascara, I've never had any problems with their products at all xx

Almay is also a pretty good brand. They're designed to be allergy friendly.

i second the vote for Almay.I have VERY sensitive eyes and there isn't a lot of eye makeup i can use.In fact my LAST tube of mascara was Almay and 2 days ago i needed to buy new and decided to buy Revlon because i liked the silvery container

mad: stupid, stupid)I NEVER had a problem with the Almay but now, two days later i have black flakes everywhere, which leads to red eyes, itching etc.

also..i never put mascara on my bottom lashes anymore which helps as well.

I second the bottom lashes thing. it tends to make a mess if you aren't very careful. (Besides my grandmother always told me that only two types of women coated their bottom lashes- tramps and actresses...lol )
I swear by Maybelline Great Lash- you know, the pink and green one. Also their Full and Soft is awesome.
Does anyone who uses cake mascara know if running is a problem with that type? I haven't tried it yet, so i couldn't say, but maybe it makes a difference.

Have you thought about eyelash extensions? A hairstylist friend of mine does them and they are amazing! And you don't need mascara after they are on because they create the lush, fuller, longer look. They last for a couple months.

I agree with the other gals. I've never seen a normal non-waterproof mascara that didn't create raccoon eyes when used on the bottom lashes. Could you try a clear one for your lower lashes? It wouldn't darken them, but it would define them... I think Maybelline has one in their Great Lash line.

I've never experienced that. Could it be because I always wear mineral powder when I wear mascara? I bet regular powder would also do the trick. My favorite mascara at the moment is Max Factor's 2000 Calorie Dramatic Look.

Blinc, Blinc and Blinc again

It is a little pricy, but I highly recomend "KISS ME" mascara by Blinc. It doesn't work like a regular mascara.

It is TOTALLY water proof. May be a little issue while it dries 10-15 secs; but this stuff WORKS.

Cake mascara does this too, unfortunately, at least in my experience. I used Lola Loves Lashes cake mascara for a while, and the same thing happened. I think it was actually even worse than the tube mascara I now use.

I use La Femme cake mascara in dark brown (or maybe it's just called "brown"), and I can wear this on my bottom lashes without it smudging or running, though I usually only wear it on my upper lashers.
I have found that with the cake mascaras, it seems that the blacks will smudge while the dark browns will not. And, with the La Femme anyway, I get enough definition from the dark brown.
I have a Longcils cake in black on the way to try, will see if it smudges or not!

I was plagued with this smudging problem for years. Then, I started dabbing my eyelids with pressed powder before the mascara. Next, I do up my lashes... the top mostly, I'll add a touch of eyeliner to the bottom. Lastly, I would add a light dusting of pressed powder along the bottom of my lid.

This keeps the moisture from my eyes and skin in their respective places.

It has worked wonders.

If you put mascara on your bottom lashes then only do it really lightly, and maybe buy a seperate mascara brush to go over it with afterwards (dry, of course). That's what I do, just to get rid of any clumps or stuck together lashes.

Also maybe buying something like Benefit's she laq might help. It seals make up and stop it from smudging.

Well, I got my Longcils black cake mascara, and it's a no-smudger! (haven't tried on lower lashes yet, though). Yay! I don't like the brush that came with it, though, the bristle base is too wide for me. So I used my La Femme brush instead, which is narrower and easier to use. I do really like the Longcils, and will likely start collecting all of the shades now, lol! That reminds of something to post in the "The one that got away" thread....

I have this problem even when I don't wear mascara on my bottom lashes. I've found some brands are worse than others in terms of smudging though. Sometimes I do wear mascara on the bottom lashes for definition and even then the smudging is not far worse than when I don't wear it. I honestly don't have any tips but I'm pretty sure I never notice the smudge on other women, just myself!

I used to use this, and it was fine to begin with (and certainly stayed put) but after using it for a couple of months it started to flake so badly that at the end of the day I'd be left with naked eyelashes and lots of sooty fall-out on my cheeks (not ideal!) I tried a fresh tube in case the old one was drying out, but it made no difference. So unfortunately it wasn't a success for me personally [huh] Great idea, though!

I suffer from the dreaded undereye smudge too (even when using waterproof formulations), thanks to fairly oily skin and deep-set eyes. Now I just apply mascara to the top lashes and tint my lower lashes once a fortnight (I use an at-home kit but beauticians will do it, too). It doesn't make your lashes any thicker but the darker colour helps define the eye, especially if you're naturally a blondie.

If I'm going for heavier, night-time eye make-up I'll mascara my lower lashes anyway and just try and incorporate the inevitable smudge into my 'look' ('Uh, yeah, I was going for the smoky eye! It's the Theda Bara Look dontcha know...' lol )
