April 16, 2008, 11:45 AM EST

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The truth is finally out there about the new "X-Files" movie title.

The second big-screen spinoff of the paranormal TV adventure will be called "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," Chris Carter, the series' creator and the movie's director and co-writer, told The Associated Press.

Yikes. Sounds like the title of a Monkees song.

At least it's not Quantum of (hahahahahaha) Solace or Attack of the Clones or - worst of all - X-Files 2.

I was a *huge* fan of X-Files, but 16 years after the season finale, they're releasing this movie? I've forgotten most everything that happened for Pete's sake!

No kidding! However, I'm under the impression that this film will be akin to one the Monster of the Week episodes- not linked to The Mythology. I certainly hope that's the case, or I will have do some serious DVD watching...
P.S. Welcome aboard!!

Their stand alone non-UFO episodes were always the best of the series. I was a big X-Files fan, although it lost my interest the last couple of seasons. I'm looking forward to the movie.

Altho the one with Alex Trebek and Jesse Ventura was pretty good.
