MILAN (Reuters Life!) - Giorgio Armani turned to the 1930s for his latest furniture collection, where tables, sofas and beds stood in settings reminiscent of movie sets during Hollywood's Golden Age.

Richly finished with a pleated effect, the "Armani Casa" line stayed true to the Italian designer's minimalist style, with a typically linear approach and classic colors.

The 73-year-old Armani, known for his understated designs, said he found inspiration in the work of Eileen Gray, whose rounded Bibendum chair was one of the 20th century's most recognizable designs.

I tend to like more mid-century modern stuff myself (it's what got me into vintage in the first place), so I think the stuff is pretty, but a bit too trendy-hotel-lobby looking for me.

But I am definitely gonna run out and get "G. A." end tables asap! lol

I really like Ralph Lauren's Cape Lodge collection. However, I think his Modern Duke collection was my favorite. Some of the Armani pieces are nice. I like the wall treatments.

A resounding "meh" from me. Very hotel and sterile looking. Somehow I like the william-sonama home collection lamps much more than the Armani ones (although I can't afford either of them lol ).
