Thank you for the comments folks..what Absinthe isn't telling you is that this one seemed to take forever. I didn't have what I thought was the right ribbon & had to do some arm twisting ( and begging helped) to get it. What should have been a few weeks turned into a few months. uggg, but I think it was worth it.

How many times did you have to check the blueprints?

Sorry about that, I didn't mean to be insensitive.

It's just that I've been saying things two times since watching the "Aviator" recently.

PS - I'm also reading his biography at the moment.

... for that new lid and I have VERY good news for you. The Stratoliner pins and the DC-3 pins have just been returned to me from the foundry in Indiana. Thanks for loaning me your Strat as the model... You will be the FIRST recipient of the new FL pins... AND they're 14kt Gold over .925 sterling (just like the originals). They look FABULOUS!

Zemke fan, What do/did the Stratoliner and DC-3 pins look like? Are there any extant photos? Any pins available nearly two years removed? Carter

For quite sometime I've wanted a fedora similiar to the one Howard Hughes wore during the flight tests of HK-1 & XF-11, so I contacted Art and he crafted exactly what I wanted.

All I can say is Wow!
It's amazing how a well made hat feels compared to the off the rack stuff I had before.

Thanks Art!,......... now I need something that flys faster than a Cessna 150.

And something to go with the Fedora.

Hi all ... I'm a newbie and this is my first post. I just had to comment on that snappy looking 2 tone gab hollywood jacket because I used to own one exactly like it. I ended up selling mine on ebay sad to say.

Something faster than a 150? Might you be interested in an Ercoupe 415C?
I also have a Pitts S1-S that is torn completely down for rebuild if your interested. I'd make you a deal.

By the way, nice lid. Ya gotta wear it standing at the old tower at HOU, I'd be happy to take that pic!

I can't see the photo, but I'll bet it's the same jacket, since it's from the same area and sales venue.

It's my favorite jacket.

Yep, same jacket, I'm the one that bought it in April of '06.

I'd be wearing it today if wasn't 90 degrees outside. :eusa_doh:

Photos don't do it justice, it's one of the nicest Hollywood Jackets I've seen.

I'm glad it went to a good home. I had the coat for 10+ yrs. and probably wore it 5 times. It was my favorite non-horsehide jacket. The style and condition alone make it primo. But to find one in that size and color make it a gem? I have no regrets selling it. You invested well because in today's market it could easily fetch 4 figures. :D
