Here is mine that I made for Tiki-Oasis last year. Sorry--I couldn't find a single picture of me in it, but I thought it looked nice in the tiki print.

I haven't put the binding on, but so far so good!

I still haven't attempted this. I get so easily put off doing things but the pictures in this thread are really inspiring!

I love the ribbon detail you added - how does the neckline look on you?

The neckline looks okay on me, I didn't have any problems with this pattern, and only had to make minor adjustments to the shoulders to get rid of slight gaping at the side, but it fitted me perfect everywhere else.
The ribbon is actually the tie for an open fronted red crinoline I made as I wanted to make the skirt stand out a bit more like on the pattern cover. I have a picture of it somewhere but can't find it just now, so may post it later if I find it.

ahh. I put my full crinoline under it but it did disagree slightly with the more fitted underskirt. I can't believe you made an open fronted one, that is genius!

you can always cut self-bias or purchase a contrasting fabric. packaged bias tape is often poor quality fabric and I like to have the ability to match a fabric exactly. I have had a lot of fun trimming a solid item with a matching dotted bias. also by making your own bias you eliminate the worry of which edge to put on the outside; I stitch the bias on, then wrap it around to the back and press. It does add a few steps but I feel the end result is worth it.

I am afraid to try this dress, but I really must do it. I need to change the sleeves/ arms eye though - that cut is just not flattering to me.

DimeADanceQueen: Pretty! Would it be possible to see the high heels up close? I like those prints with shoes, or hats, or dresses, or fashionable women strolling all along the length.

DressADay just put up a vintage photo from a book, showing the Walk-Away Dress. The book even recommended making it from two old dresses. Makes sense, if you think about it.

I love this pattern. I actually contacted Butterick on this pattern they said they didnt make it anymore however I was lucky to find it in their re-release section called Retro. I have got the pattern but I havent started to work on it yet.
I would make a few changes though cause I dont wear sleeveless so I will be adding 3/4" sleeves to keep with the look and cover my arms. wish me luck

I guess this dress is a rite of passage. Here is my attempt.

I think it needs 2 more buttons but I was pleased with the overall dress. I used linen so it will be nice for summer.

Very pretty, I do like your colour choices. I put three closures in the front of mine. A hook on the top and two press snaps then sewed buttons over them. I like a more closely fitted look.
