Wood Allen's Radio Days. Wow. I didn't even know this movie existed! Really enjoyed it - perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

We were watching it as well. I think I saw part of it in the past but saw it listed and made sure to see it start to finish.

Last movie I watched (which I've seen before) was this afternoon - Man of the Century. It's been been written up before here on the Lounge.

'Girl 27,' a documentary about a 1937 MGM Stag Party where a woman was lured there under false pretenses
and raped. Not terribly well made, but enlightening about the film industry at the time, and of course, an important story.

Thanks for posting this and making me look it up! Man, I just read a write-up on the details of the night in question...all I can say is "WOW!" What a totally hushed-up story! Everyone knows about William Desmond Taylor and Fatty Arbuckle...this has been totally off my radar. Horrid!

Holiday (1938) (7/10) This time around I fully enjoyed it! Last time I watched this I thought it was dull and didn't go anywhere; I couldn't have been more wrong! There were nice, light touches of comedy and drama. It was a fun, interesting film that I would label a "Near Classic." Hepburn was great, Grant was lovable and Lew Ayres gained my admiration. His facial expression at the church while hungover was brilliant. Edward Everett Horton got all the best lines, though.

RE: Hepburn. I could hear some of her voice inflections that Cate Blanchett cribbed for her AVIATOR role. The real Kate never came off as flaky like Blanchett played her, at least in any of the films I've seen. Maybe someone can direct me to a "dopier, flakier", Kate Hepburn role?

"Little Caesar" - Edward G. Robinson. Ok, aside from the gorgeous antique autos, suits, hats in this classic gangster movie, it was SO much fun imitating and mocking EGR's distinct voice and speaking manner - "aaaaahhh, dirty yellow copper, saaayyy?"

Also a few times during the movie it seemed to me that the acting was very similar to that of silent movies, with the exaggerated facial expressions and pronounced mannerisms. This was confirmed when I watched the commentary when they pointed out that this was one of the early "talkies".

I'm getting ahead of myself but I just opened a package from Greece containing White Mischief (in English) without subtitles (perhaps they are an option). The menus are in Greek but the DVD was still in its wrapper when I opened the padded envelope and so far so good.

I liked "There will be Blood" but it strayed so far from the original Sinclair Lewis story that it was hard to comprehend..........

We watched "Bucket List" the other night and it is probably the best movie that either Nicholson or Freeman ever did...........or maybe it's just the fact that my own Bucket List hasn't been completed.......BWAHAHAHA

I had the same reaction to Holiday. It didn't help that the first time around, I saw it on the heels of The Philadelphia Story. It's good, but it does suffer a bit in comparison. I watched it again a few months later, and enjoyed it much more.

For a dopier, flakier Hepburn, what about Bringing Up Baby?

Last movie we saw: Michael Clayton. Clooney was good, Tilda Swinton was marvelous.
