Girdles, Corsets, and Underpinnings

I did a corserty course & this looks like a Victorian Corset (style). The ones I make have the 'round' front that go over the breasts & they have long metal fastenings up the front (which can be substituted with hooks & eyes) & a lace up back.

From the pic that's what it looks like to me anyway

Not being familiar with What Katie Did I don't know what their styles are so I can't help with that I'm afraid

As for this girdle rolling up thing, I just bought myself a couple, does this happen with stockings or not? I only bought them so I could wear stockings. I guess the stockings will stop it from rolling(?)

just a report on my new Rago cincher - it is *fabulous*. due to being-on-vacation puffiness, my waist was at about 34 inches... my cinch brought it down to thirty!!! it's not too uncomfortable, even after a full day of wear involving dancing! i am such a happy customer! fyi, i bought a Size 30 cincher.

dolly, i'm pretty sure stockings will keep your girdle from rolling.

heck if i know! lol my hips are pretty small (compared to my waist normally) so it probably goes there. i wear those shaper old-lady underwear with it. the top of the cincher comes up to my bra, and the bottom of it comes down over the undies. it's pretty smooth for me - no lines, i think because the cincher isn't extremely tight on my hips as it is.

yep! that's the one! it doesn't look that smooth on me... the waist definitely has a much more sudden indentation, but since i'm using it to fit into certain skirts and dresses, it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I could imagine that it would bulge like that on me too, the model there doesn't look like she has much on her that needs cinching.

But good to hear that it can actually bring down the waist by a few inches, I thought it was somewhat like the Rago corselettes, mostly for smoothing out.

Then either your shoes don't fit correctly, or you should just get heel grips to put in the back so your feet don't slide.

I have the same problem with certain pairs of my shoes. Funnily enough, KittyT, it doesn't happen sans stockings, my shoes fit properly.

I don't know about y'all, but if I get shoes that feel right without stockings, they're probably not going to fit right with stockings; and vice versa. Stockings don't change the size of the foot much, but they have a huge impact on how my feet feel in the shoe.

If I'm buying heels, I always try them on with stockings because that's almost always how I'll wear them. Also, I just can't understand wearing heels without stockings - it feels disgusting AND leaves a ton of bacteria living in your shoes.

In any case, a good pair of heel grips easily remedies this issue.

Yes, well you should know that the reason this matters is because the bacteria in perspiration loves to eat the proteins in leather, especially when it is thriving in a warm, damp environment. Over time, perspiration inside your [leather] shoes can significantly damage them.

Yup, this happens. I sweat my feet even with stockings, so I always have insoles in my shoes to protect them.

surely the thin nylon in a pair of stockings wouldn't absorb any sweat? I'd a thunk it would make it worse actually being an artificial fibre...?

you know how they tell you not to wear tights because of....ahem...

It may depend on the person, but I find that when I wear stockings, I'm still getting sweaty shoes, but much less so than without, and that a lot of the sweat ends up in the stockings. Some of the sweat does stick to the nylons.

I use charcoal inserts in all my shoes. They're great for this particular sweaty foot problem. Once they get grubby and seem to not do their job anymore, I just swap 'em out for new ones. For peep-toe shoes, I just trim the 'toe-end" of the insert a bit shorter so it's not visible.

I use them regardless of whether I happen to be wearing stockings or not, as it seems to help cut down on that 'swampy" feeling. ick.
