Great news, Art! Now, two things -

1. What is the Doc giving you to help you quit smoking?

2. Please send any unused Marlboros to me, that is until I am really interested in the answer to question 1.

Damn glad to hear it Art.

Great news on your heart and lung condition. My Doc prescribed Chantix for me and I am still off the smokes since last November. Two of the other guys at work used it as well and had great results.

Take care of your self and learn to destress..;)

What a relief.

Glad to hear the good news. I hope the smoking cessation goes as well as the heart procedure. I look forward to working with you again, Art -- soon, but not too soon -- whatever you and your doctor think is best.

Great news!

Good luck with the smoking. A brush with heal issues can be an excellent motivator - worked for me and changing my diet.

Great news . . .

Let me know how quitting smoking goes . . .
I would love to quit. Well, part of me would love to . . . the other part loves to smoke ;)

I would NEVER blame anything on the meal you served VB, nothing but compliments coming from this direction.:eusa_clap

Sure know how to hurt a guy Lefty, using my own words against me..[huh]
but I gotta tell you, it's still fun. I just need a little less fun for the moment.

Thank you folks for your words & thoughts. You have no idea how much they have helped or how much they are appreciated.

As my friend Analogist stated, the Cardiologist gave me ( technically, the wife) a big "thumbs up" on my heart condition so from this point on, even though the source of the pains have not come to light, it's ALL down hill. As soon as I can walk straight again I'll be throwing a one man party here on the mountain...Crown Royal for everyone!!!lol lol

For those of you concerned about my smoking, since my lungs are still in good shape ( relatively speaking) please know the Doc has prescribed some assistance and the target date is 8/15 for ending that part of my routine. it seems like the timing is right.

Geeze, if I'm not careful, I'm liable to get downright healthy!!

Oh, and for all you young guys & gals, I gotta tell you, gettin old SUCKS!! It's to be avoided if you can. :D

Lucky, cheapskate that i am, I'll not be having many packs leftover, but if i do....

Stoney, I've heard good things about Chantix ( I start the program tomorrow) and have it waiting.

Slim, this appears to be the best thing out there right now. I've tried the gum, the patch, pretty much everything. The real key is that you really have to want to quit. I know that already, just have to muster it up.

Loved hearing (reading) the great news Art! I hope all goes well with the smoking. I am a former smoker and it was difficult, but not impossible to quit. I used A LOT of gum!

I had the pleasure to speaking to Art today. I'm sure he will be with us for a long time! Just give the man a little time to get back to his normal pace and his "works of Art" will be back on our heads !
I cant wait to order mine.

Great news Art:
Now I quit smoking back in 81 before they had patches and gum
I ate a lot of Lifesavers every time I got the urge.
My experience was if you can go 3 weeks you've got the physical part licked.
I became a militant nonsmoker ;).
There's a 12 step program for smokers.
http://www.nicotine-anonymous.org/
But it's real tough addiction to beat.
I'm in recovery and it seems like 75% of the people smoke, makes it hard to make new friend after the meetings when everybody is smoking like crazy.

I quit May of 2007...Haven't had an urge since, felt like I had never smoked...almost as if it had never happened...and I had smoked for 20 years. I owe it all to back surgery and morphine....Went in...had surgery...woke up with the morphine hooked up and a cool button to push...went in and out of delirium for 3 days...On the forth day...I was off the meds and had completely forgotten that I had ever smoked...:eusa_clap :D ...So I'll be setting up morphine clinics across the country and see if I can make any money off it...:D :D :D :eusa_clap

Good luck Art!...

Take care of yourself Art. Once everything is up and running to par I've got an idea I want to run by you. But, I won't until I know you're running on all 8 cylinders.:)

Art, this is good news indeed. I quit back about 10 years ago when I was scared out of my wits when my mom was diagnosed with... well you know. I threw the remainder of my pack of Camel Wides away and did it cold turkey. I was a bear to live with for about a week but I haven had an urge since.
Best wishes to you on your rest & road to recovery and to your quitting smoking.

Cheers!

Art,

I can highly recommend Chantix. I quit Tuesday.
You can be my stop smoking buddy. I'm a little crabby right now, is there anyone you don't like I can talk to?

Darn, Art, I talk to you about making me a Seabiscuit look alike, and you tell me to wait until after you move to Oregon, then I lose contact and drop off the list. So here I come back and it seems you are trying to kill yourself making hats, running a ranch, and twenty other things all at once.

OK, get well, take care of yourself and your family, make a few hats, go fishing, and hire some people to do all that hard stuff. Above all get well.

You have my prayers and best wishes along with everyone else's.

An Irish Blessing...

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Cheers!
