I think that dress in black would look very nice kamikat!

In black, and with compelling accents such as the right stockings, shoes, and jewelry, that dress would make me just exactly as over-heated as I am sure that you wish to make your ex.

I have to say I agree with Slim Portly here. The second dress is fun, no doubt, but the first looks great I think.

I think the final decision should be based on which dress YOU feel better in, not what the rest of us think. Because if you feel sexy, you are sexy.

So you could see what it looks like different ways. :)

The last one, bottom right!
I don't know, I just really seem drawn to that one. It's definitely a good look for you.

I really like the first dress, especially with a white collar. I think you should consider it. It just seems more classy to me.

Best of luck with the ex.

Josephine, you beat me to the punch! I was playing around with Photoshop with the two pictures myself. Maybe you can do it better (I got frustrated and gave up). I was trying to merge the halter top of the floral dress with the pencil skirt bottom and then trying to make it all black. That's where I got frustrated because I'm somewhat a 'newbie' with Photoshop and I couldn't get the black color on right. But you've certainly showed a lot of variations of that dress. Great job!

(Re: the halter dress--I'm more partial to V-necklines as I think they're the most flattering. If one could make the first dress with a deeper V-neck and then perhaps narrow up the shoulders a bit, I think it would be stunning. But, hey, I bet there are tons of patterns out there with just that look! LOL)

lol The white dress was easy, there was no pattern underneath so I could lighten the black to show the darts, etc. Unfortunately I couldn't do that with the floral dress. I did narrow the skirt to something approximating the original dress. :)

Josephine, that is fantastic! Now I can see what I was trying to imagine, and I think I called this one right. Tell me Miss K. doesn't look stunning in all of those variations.

You really do have lovely shoulders, don't hide them! ;) A black dress like the first one would be a knockout.

But the first dress looks good with a white collar and belt.

Slim Portly, thank you for a man's opinion. Your reasons for why it works are the same I had in my head when I was first considering it. Oh, when I said hubby likes the flowered dress, I was talking about my current, not my ex.

Thanks for the photoshop help, ladies! The first dress looks great in black, but I think I like the halter with a narrow skirt best. I actually have one (black with pink polka dots)in my unfinished pile because I didn't feel like sewing in the boning! I also tried on the flowered dress again, with my new crinoline and it looks even better. The crinoline makes my waist look tiny. I think I'll make the black collared dress, finish the black polka dot dress, then make my final decision the morning of the party. A girl's gotta have options! Oh, how do we feel about colors for the collar and belt? Now that I've seen the photo shop, I really like that idea, but was thinking maybe burgandy?

I know it's shallow, but an ex will be there and I want to shine.

Is there ANY girl on earth who hasn't been in a situation like that before? ;)

I think you look definetely better in bright colours! Black is also good, but I think colour is better for you. And that's what I don't like about the first dress, the colour let you disappear somehow.

hmm and I tend to stick to darker colors, hoping they make me look slimmer.

I like the halter dress with the slim (not skinny) skirt.

If we're being brutally honest, I don't think the collared dress does nearly as much for you. The expression on your face in each picture says it all.

This thread really got me thinking about how easy it is for me to see what looks good on someone else, but I can never see it as clearly on myself. So I was wondering, kamikat, did you have a feeling that the flowered dress was more beautiful on you and the collared dress less flattering?
