My 616
I've been pretty lucky in finding these cameras from the 30s with their boxes and instruction sheets intact. I will try some 620 film in this one. Though it is smaller than 616, it's the only thing that is available and does work if used properly. The color flier is an invitation to the 1939 Kodak Exhibit, an amateur photographers show in Cleveland Ohio.

Fedoragent and I went to an antique phonograph sale, today. Phonograph, not photograph. Naturally, I had to buy one of the very few (4) cameras - and the only movie camera - that were for sale there: This Paillard - Bolex 8mm from Switzerland. Yes, it works.

Nice finds all! Wow! It's nice to know that with the onset of digital imaging there are still plenty who appreciate the quality of an age gone by. I love my cameras honestly. Whether I shoot with them or just research them or even use them as props- I love being steeped in history!

How much? I got mine at a Goodwill quite a few years ago (I'm sure it was only a few dollars) and it runs fine.

Nick, Quigley and crew- are any of you from the VCC (Vintage Camera Club!) going to attend the Queen Mary Even this year? We should definitely try to bring a few of our prized cameras and put them to good use!! I'll prolly drive out and if that be the case I can even bring my darkroom equipment! I'm set up to do medium format and 35mm film in my enlarger and tanks. But I've got extra trays if anyone were to want to do larger film. As for prints I could have that covered as well. Enlarger and whole nine yards. We'd just need to find a cabin we could use!! Now THAT would be fun!!
Scuffy - I know that your post wasn't directed at me, but I just have to say that your idea sounds really fun!

I'd just got to thinking that it'd be a blast! Even being able to possibly teach one another some darkroom tips and tricks. I remember the large darkroom we had at school, 24 Saunders enlargers, and how much fun we'd have when the whole class was in there! The singing, joking and general positive moral. Fun stuff!

I'll be posting more whenever I can get the rest scanned. I got the effect I wanted though...a roadtrip taken by an average person in the 50's or 60's! lol I employed both my Brownie Hawkeye and my Spartus Full Vue. The black and whites turned out more sepia toned (very sepia toned), and I'm not sure what to ask for to get true black and white photos.
Anyway...that's it.

Argh! I've been carrying the new catalog back and forth from work for the past three days or so and still haven't done much except for look at the cover- I've been to busy! And let it be know that I thought that because of that fact I'd just leave it at work today. Either way- I was looking into getting around 50 rolls of B&W 120 so I may have to put in a little bit larger of an order.... and clear out some freezer space!
