Sorry guys. I did take a lot of pictures last week, but my camera has refused to download any of them. It's about 5 yrs old and I can't figure out the problem, nor do I know anybody who could. It's looking like I'll have to buy a new one before I can get any up...

My sincere apologies.

As soon as I possibly can, this thread will be graced with many pictures.

Cooperstown ball caps

This thread took me back 10 years. Three of us worked on a little two-car train that picked up hikers in the summer, and my brakeman decided to order us all Cooperstown ballcaps; the Port-au-Prince Skulls. (It was a baseball team in Haiti, where his uncle had lived for years). One day we all brought our caps to work, and then when our train arrived at the station flying a pirate flag, we put our caps on and greeted the hikers. AAARGH! We had a lot of fun with our passengers that day. I haven't worn my cap in a number of years, but my engineer still wears his a couple of times a summer. My brakeman took a trip to St. Kitts, and brought along his Skulls cap, and then got pretty nervous when some of the locals asked him if he was a "bones man". He thought he'd get in trouble for being into voodoo, so quickly explained it was a baseball team, and put away his cap for the rest of the trip.

Hey Scotrace, did you ever get a leather band cooperstown cap? Hows the other one fairing. Did it come in a box or a shipping bag when it was delivered?

Never got the leather banded one, but my Reds cap sees a fair amount of wwear. I has shrunk a bit!

It came in a square brown cardboard box, about 8x8x8 or so, no bag or any packing at all.
Now you know what to watch for. :)

Hello all--first post.

I was looking at Cooperstown Caps (ballcap.com) because I want to make a 1931 University of Florida baseball cap. But, as I suppose is a common complaint, there aren't any real reference pictures on their website. Anyone know where I can go to get a decent picture of a 1930s style cut? I know what an orange F looks like on a dark blue background, heh, I just need to know what the shape would be. The black and whites I can get a hold of through UF libraries don't help much.

This Twilight Zone was made in 1960, but the caps look like the earlier ones with the short brim.I believe it would look similar to this.

The Natural / NY Knights

I had recently watched the recently released Director's Cut DVD of "The Natural" and got to see it all the way thru for the first time. I was really jazzed about the whole thing and ordered the Cooperstown NY Knights Cap with leather sweat band. I am of course looking forward to getting it.

Hows the cap John?
I ordered a 56 ballcap from them last year. They have three different cuts, short regular and full. Regular being the norm. When I got it I had some confusion with hat volume. They took it back and made a short cut, which just blew off my head with the slightest breeze. They took it back and made me a new on without question. I also asked them to make me a 46 instead because I liked the felt B a little better. This is the most comfortable cap I own hands down. This is a regular cut. I just ordered a 56 sox in a full cut, because thes hats are made on antique machines, this is the original cut.
I believe they have superior wool and true to age materials. the only modern material is thr inside brim is made of latex instead of cardboard making it very comfortable with little or no break in. The only break in being wetting the cap and shaping it a bit here and there.
I just got delivery comfirmation on the new on and can't wait. They have a long lead time, 4-6 weekd because they are a small factory and are hand made.

Interestingly enough, I had ordered a 7-1/8 (57) which is what I normaly wear in fedoras. When it arrived the cap was too small. I measured my head and found that I was in between 57-58 so I though a 7-1/4 would do. I used their return form, but I sent the paper tape (I got the paper tape from Ikea that they provide for measuring furniture) which I had taped together in a loop and marked at the size I came up with.

They sent a 7-3/8 cap which fits beautifully and I enjoy wearing around when I feel in a Baseball cap mood.

I have 3 of their caps and won't wear any other baseball cap. The leather sweat makes it much more comfortable than any other ballcap.

I agree with the comfort factor. The leather and brim don't dig into your head. Got any pictures Johar? It's hard to find actual photos of these caps.
