I am with you on this.
The Don and Peggy scene was a shocker!
This show is kinda like LOST in the way that we know almost nothing about these characters, and every week, just a little more is revealed. I love it. Missing an episode is really not an option with this series!

True true. On sundays at my house, 9 p.m. is my time. You better now even think about grabbing the remote. You could come back with a missing limb if you are not careful.

I just found this thread and am so happy. I love the show. I think my favorite part from the last one was that we found out a bit more about Don and Peggy's relationship. I like that they seem to be friends, or at least confidants. I do hope that the show doesn't move to quickly into the "60's". I think it will lose it's charm if it ends up being all about hippies and beatniks.

Pixie, I have to agree with you wholeheartedly regarding the series transition to the mid to late 60's and hippiedom. I just can't imagine Don Draper with sideburns-that whole late 60's vibe would just destroy everything that I love about the show.

Yes! I'm so glad to have found like minded people. I was talking with a friend, and she was saying how she can't wait to see the show morph into that era. I was horrified!

The thought of joan burning her bullet bra sends shivers down my spine.

It could be something like this

From the "Best Life" article linked above...

Better yet, when he explains that the reason men looked better in the Mad Men era is that they dressed up, combed their hair, and tucked in their shirts, and I ask him if the show has improved his wardrobe, he says no. "It's the f--king 21st century," he says. "I'm comfortable."

Sigh... and he looks so darn GOOD in those suits! I wish I looked that good...

I just noticed this week that what in the first season were odd advertising facts leading to commercial breaks are now directly associated with a particular advertiser.

Did you see the girls in the fashion show? They looked like WOMEN-they had curves and tummies! No protruding collarbones to be seen! Maybe there is hope for the world after all. ;)

I was reading somewhere, maybe it was the Mad Men site on AMC...but anyhow they said for the time being its going to be April 1960 for quite a while. Or was it February? Either way the plan is to stay put aesthetically. They were explaining the hold overs from the 50s, how everything having to do with a certain person explains something about them, right down to their time pieces..which are all period correct.

RedHot, I actually couldn't believe how MUCH tummies there were! I always laugh when you see a very slim girl with big breasts trying to be passed off as the definition of curvy on television. I thought they all looked fantastic! Hooray for bodies!

That might be referring to season one. Season two is already skipping through 1962 at the rate of about a month per episode.

I loved the look of this last episode. The mise en scenes looked like layouts for period magazines - Esquire, Playboy, etc.

The tendency to end with a dolly out from Don after some emotional epiphany as in a John Updike story or something is a little wearing though. I'd like an episode to end on the New York skyline of the time, before it was dominated, like every other city, by big glass filing cabinets.

It's like women aren't allowed to have anything jiggle anymore, except on top. I love that they really celebrate Joan. I think they have actually made her a little bigger than the actress really is because I don't remember her derriere being quite that big. I wish I could wear a wiggle dress that well! Hooray for Joan and REAL girls!

I like the attention to detail on all of the costumes with the long line bras, but my favorite was the straight white line of the men's handkerchiefs--so fitting with the general design elements of mid-century modern.

I did. Another great one, loaded with interesting, unexpected stuff...

Poor Sal - and his poor wife.

The Joan/Jane confrontations.

The family leaving their picnic trash behind without even thinking about it.

Don's flashback to his car salesman days: "You're not Don Draper!"

And an absolutely perfect symbolic ending! (Betty couldn't stomach Don's behavior, and soiled the perfect appearance of his new Caddy.)
