Currently on the back porch in my wicker papasan chair wearing a pair of light cotton shorts and a tank top. I'm drinking iced coffee with Kahlúa, listening to Dinah Washington, and smoking a Montecristo White Churchill. It's 10:30 at night, the crickets are chirping, the air is at that sweet spot just below body temperature, and I feel just a little bit sorry for anyone who isn‘t me. Sweet baby Zeus I do love Las Vegas.

i had one of those "ah, what the hell" moments and got a Gurkha 'Royal Salute'...you know..the cigar infused with louis xiii cognac for like 3 months and dropped in a glass tube...it was good...i liked it...just friggin' expensive...

I had a moment like that too a while back---different result. I conned a friend of mine into trying another Hoyo de Dogrocket just to see if they had aged enough to get rid of the bitter taste. He went through it and found it ok---even after I reminded him it was the "tongue in coffee grounds" cigar from before.
My mistake was in giving him the regular Hoyo not the Excaliber 1066. I tried the 1066 with the same result I had months ago. Bitttttttter.
I don't know if I have the nerve to try the regular Hoyo to see if he was playing a prank on me. :eusa_doh: I could always go to the Montecristo instead.

Last night on the patio, while watching the stars and some lightning off in the distance, enjoyed a Montechristo White Churchill along with an iced cofee w/franjelico ... this is my 3rd time smoking this Cigar and each time it is very smooth and creamy with just a bit of spice and has a very pleasing aroma- a very relaxing smoke for late evenings and the creamiest smoke of anything I've tried- Slim Portly I can see why you often have one of these babies- your review of this one is spot on!

A man after my own heart! A perfect evening, fresh night air, dramatic weather in the distance, iced coffee with a splash of fire water... how much more perfect can it get? Perhaps an amigo at your side so you can argue about who is having the better time of it?

Yesterday I had a La Flor Dominicana Premium Line box pressed torpedo. Not as smooth as I would have liked. This morning it was a Partagas 1854 Black Label Crystal maduro robusto (50 x 5 1/2). Cuban-seed medio tempo wrapper, aged longer on the plant, with the La Vega Especial binder, a mixture of Nicaraguan ligero and Dominican piloto cubano ligero. Very nice, with just a hint of roughness on the palate at the end.

Ok, I got up enough courage to try the regular Hoyo de Monterey. No Excaliber 1066 or silver or any such special stuff. I think they discountinued the silver one.
So, the proof in the pudding was in fact ok this time. It started off great guns with wood and earth flavors and continued along this line. The end, however, was kind of strange with grassy, wheaty flavors that just didn't deliver in complexity. This was much better than the bitter mess that is the 1066 series though. I would give it a five out of ten. Not really bad but not a great cigar for a special occassion or dinner even. ;) :p
