So it’s been a long time since I have posted on here, since some time back in march. Eeek.
I have done a search and I have looked through old threads till my eyes are about to cross. And I just done know what to do, im trying to find a curl setting pattern/cut to re create some of Marilyn Monroe’s hair styles, I can find TONS of pictures but noting that shows how her hair is cut or how they rolled or placed the curlers. For all I know they used pin curls but Im really no good at that and would like to use hot rollers, if there is anyone that can help I would much appreciate it, if you can re create the look yourself any advice on how to cut my hair or what direction to roll the rollers would be great!

when I try and do a Marilyn do I do tend to use pin curls, and having seen a few pictures of the lady herself with her pincurls in I assume she did the same thing.

I also use perm rods when i'm feeling lazy but for the Monroe stylkes you need to get them quite close to the scalp to get the right curl and that can leave unsightly ridges in the hair.

I think you might struggle to get a similar effect with hot rollers unless you have a lot of smaller sized rollers, you do need a tightish curl for a lot of these styles as there is a lot of height at the crown.

What particular styles were you looking at?

If you're not finding any info online on Marylin's hair, you might want to try looking up Jean Harlow. Monroe actually modeled her hairstyles off of Harlow's. You might find more information on actually how to style the hair.

Don't be intimidated by pincurling. It seems impossible to do but if you do a few practice runs, you'll get the hang of it. Plus you'll get a better idea of what set of curl get you what ending style.
When I do pincurls, I have to brush them out. If I don't, they just look like weird sausage-y ringlets. I like the fluffier Hayworth type look and brushing helps get that. Also, it turns the curls into waves.

Good luck. Hope this helped a bit.:D
