youthful foundation and concealer --what do you do?

Makeup makes us feel younger. My biggest problem (besides those yucky dark circles). is finding a youthful foundation. I have tried them all. There are so many on the market. The one I seem to like the best is Clilnique SUPERMOISTURE . I use several shades, but especially Ivory. It has a rather sheer finish. It is great for dry skn. When I have more time, I mix equal parts with their Uplighting liquid illuminator for a more polished look. Tell me what foundation you like and if you have any great solutions for the cursed dark circles!!! I keep on buying concealers!!
(if only we looked as we did back then, but knew what we know now!!!)

This is one of my new favorite foundations. It is by Sally Hansen. Its Your Skin Makeup inspired by Carmindy.
The coverage is really buildable but not heavy.I've been applying it with the Sonia Kashuk Beauty Blender sponge knock off with great results. It really gives this amazing finish to the foundation. The sponge would be great with any foundation though. For concealers lately I have been using Laura Mercier Undercover Pot, covers my circles very well and I have very dark circles.

I have been using Rimmel "Recover" foundation for the past year.It's only around 10-12$, i can't imagine not having it,I am 41 and i love the way it makes my skin glow.

Oh my gosh, I use this foundation and concealer! I really love them both. Thanks for the tip on the sponge, I've been having a bit of trouble with streakiness using a normal sponge.

The foundation is so affordable and although the concealer is a bit pricey it lasts a long time. I like it because it's not too drying or too light. Good luck with your search

Yea, what do u mean by knockoff? There's an immitation blender sponge? I have a sonia kashuk contour brush from Target (I hope its not a knockoff cuz i paid $14 for it which is the average price for a professional/high quality brush...). It sure doesn't feel like a knockoff. The brush is REALLY soft compared to all the brushes I've bought, including some generic Target brushes.

For dark circles, I have SOOOOO many concealers too! However, last night, I went to the mall and decided to try Benefit. I told the lady there that I'd like something to cover up my circles. She did a little eye makeover and I loved the result. She used the "it stick"-the conceal it all stick and "lemon aid"-the color correcting eyelid primer. It was pretty flawless....I ended up buying them. I'll try putting it on myself today and update on the result.

This is the Beauty Blender sponge and its great for applying foundation. You sort of bounce it all around your face. Then turn it over and use the pointed tip to get the smaller areas of your face, ie corners of eyes and around the nose. You get it wet and it expands. Its really great. The only downside is well the price tag. Its twenty something for a sponge that you will throw away. You do wash it after ever use so it lasts awhile but not forever.
Sonia Kashuk sells a similar product
You use it the exact same way. However its a bit larger and at least half the price.

I wasn't saying there were knock off Sonia Kashuk items only that this sponge seems to be a knock off of the Beauty Blender! Sorry for the confusion! Try a google search, the Sonia Kashuk sponge has been getting A LOT of attention and rightfully so!

OOooh! LOL ok. I have a beauty blender. I bought it last year but have NEVER used it. I went to a professional beauty supply store to buy a Make Up For Ever Foundation and the seller told me the beauty blender was very popular and so I bought it (it was about $20). When I went home, I didn't like the sponge as much as I did when I bought it therefore never used it...lol. I was too afraid to try it out cuz I thought I would just sell it but it's still sitting on my dresser...I'm gonna try it out now. And maybe buy the "knock off" afterwards since its similar and probably cheaper.

That beauty blender does look pretty awesome, as does your concealer Audrey. Unfortuantely using it will not give me your hair. (off topic, but I love those curls you've got going)

I tend to mix my liquid foundations with lotion to make the finish more natural and less tending to settle into my lines Right now the Rimmel lasting finish? with minerals is working for me since I got a tan this summer and the lightest color is still pretty dark.

There's also mineral makeup applied with the fix+ stuff from Mac. Weird and I didn't believe it actually worked and would help the mmu really blend and not settle because I've used a couple other cheaper makeup refresher sprays, but this one acutally works. You apply your mmu. Then spray your bush and buff it in. :shrugs: I've been better about washing my kabuki since staring to use this because it makes me more cognizant of bacteria. Also, I've started using MAC Moisturecover concealer under my eyes and it works pretty good at concealing (if you take the time to build it up) and it doesn't settle into my lines even hours later. Oh well, I may buy that Laura Mercier next time.

Here is the makeup with the Rimmel/lotion in Ivory 100 and Moisturecover in nc15 and that's it. I stopped halfway through my makeup to take a pic to post on makeupalley for how well the moisturecover works.

I did a quick tutorial. I did my hair and makeup real quick so its not the best but something to illustrate.



(The second pair of pictures is just me without the rollers. The first one is finger brushed and the 2nd one is brushed out with a comb.

1. I first apply a yellow toned concealer under my eyes, on my eyelids, forehead (i make a small t shape), down my nose, under and the sides of my lips, and anywhere there is imperfection. I apply it down the middle of my face for highlighting.

2. I blend it in with a foundation brush and also my ring finger if I have to.

3. Then I apply a flesh colored concelaer right under my eyebrows, down my nose, under my eyes, and the sides and under my lips.

4. I then apply Make Up For Ever all over my face

6. Powder the face to set

8. Then I contour my cheeks to make my face appear skinnier. I start at the side underneath the temple area and brush down near the hallow of my cheek as shown on picture 9.

Not pictured, but I also apply it on the jawline. The purpose of contouring is to create shadow and reduce apparent width of the face at certain points.

10. I also contour the side of my forhead and (11) my nose (sides as shows on picture 11, angle of the tip of the nose as shown in 12 and underneath the tip of the nose as shown in 13)

In 14, only one side of the nose is contoured.

15. I highlight the forehead (make like an upside down triangle then go down to your nose, under your eyes (16) and sweep up (17). Then your chin (18)

19. I took my Besame vanity case and Besame Blush brush and apply blush in raspbery. Apply to the apple of your cheeks and sweep up. You must smile to see the apples of your cheeks easily as shown in 20.

Picture 21 is my finished face. The rest is eye makeup. and lipstick

in 22 I applied Besame's Shimmer beige all over my lid especially under my eyebrows and above my lashline using Besame's eye contour brush.

23. I applied Besame's Socialite brown on my crease and my brow bone using Besame's blending brush.

24. Eyeliner - mascara and curled my lashes.

27 is my finished face and eye makeup

28. apply red lipsrick, 29-blot and powder

30-reapply lipstick. I used a lipstick brush here to line my lips.

31 is the finished result.

Nice tutorial. Very comprehensive.

lol Thank you, Miss Neecerie! Well, I just wanted to post up something I do when I feel the need for perfect makeup. I'm usually on the go and can't apply my makeup like this so my routine is usually conceal, powder, blush, apply liquid eyeliner and mascara on top only then lipstick.

If you're looking for youthful make up I really rate Pixi (www.pixibeauty.com/). Their make up is light, youthful and leaves your skin glowing.
