Bargain Harrington?

This may be a bit of a bargain I think.

No bargain I’m afraid.

Made of 100% polyester and its awful!! If I paid £100 for it I would not be happy!

The detailing is really rather good though.

Fortunately the company sells genuine Baracuta G9s so I will pay the difference and exchange it.

I don't think my earlier reply showed up.... I have seen (and, indeed, bought) jackets very similar to that on eBay for in and around twenty quid. Couldn't honestly tell you without the jacket to hand what the fabric is (it's back home in Blighty and I'm in Beijing until Sunday), but I think it's at least a cotton/poly mix that feels like cotton. I've been very pleased with it, anyhow.... The one that you bought on sale I can't comment on without touching it, but TBH I'd have assumed that the sale price was probably fair enough (subject to personal taste), but I'd have considered the claimed full retail price to be rather excessive, to say the least! I like my cheap Harrington a lot - it's the perfect jacket for a Summer evening when there is just a slight nip in the air, and at twenty quid or so it's not the end of the world if anything happens to it.

Some branches of T K Maxx had authentic Baracuta G9s for sale for about £40 a little while ago. I bought a blue and grey checked one in my local store, and they had blue, green, brown and black ones in there as well. They may not have any left, but if you have a T K Maxx nearby it's worth checking.

The cheapest cotton Harringtons that I've found are from a German skinhead/mod site: Styleof69 for £23.95, plus £3.95 postage. They say they are cotton, but not whether they are pure cotton, or a poly/cotton blend, but may be worth a try.

Edward, it’s horrible! The cut and fit is fine, it’s just that the polyester material feels, well like polyester!! Glad I did not pay the £100 original asking price, sorry for anyone that did.

I shall take a trip to TKMaxx in the morning, may get lucky. The link for styof69 shows jackets that are on eBay for £20.00. The same jacket photo is used. They look ok but I really want a raglan sleeve so it’s going to have to be an original.

When I see these jackets I think of Steve McQueen, Sinatra and even skinheads, but I cant get Harry Enfields ‘only me‘ out of my head, if anyone knows what I mean?

I think mine came from the same source as Salv mentions, via eBay. Great jacket, superb price, but yeah, not raglan sleeves.
