lately I've been playing Coon-Sanders, Glenn Miller (ALWAYS) and Benny Goodman in my cd player in my car, I'm addicted to the music from the 20's to the 40's. I just can never get enough of it, and alot of times I have a tearfest to Glenn Miller, his music is just SO moving and so meaningful to me, and it brings up lots of wonderful memories for me. ahh if only I was born 80 years earlier.:eusa_doh:

Count Basie 1936 - 1955-ish. The greatest swing band. Ever.

My neighbour gave me a Benny Goodman CD! I play it round and round in my car, and then I take it to work and listen there too!

Gotta say-- You have exquisite taste in music, my friend. And I couldn't agree more about the prominence of the Ellington band in the period. Love, especially, the Blanton-Webster band. That RCA three-disc collection of the recordings from that period would be on any desert-island list I could compile.
