What gives you "SWAGGER"?

The first, my good Cookie, is a martini with a smidge of some sort of anise liqueur. The second is a drink that the Lounge's own anon' introduced me to on my last (very fine) trip to Portland, Oregon. It has maraschino cherry liqueur among other things and is whitish.

There is no jealousy factor ... as far as I can tell.

"Swagger comes from within" - so true!

Presenting a new adcampaign - and you KNOW it's a winner - to a client. That gives me swagger.

Having s(edit)...a romantic morning in the early hours - that gives me swagger for the rest of the day.

Top it off with a nice cravat and the Irvin jacket - and you are unbeatable.

Strolling (clumpf, clumpf, clumpf...)into a truckstop somewhere in the middle of nowhere for a cuppa, sporting the old Irvin and heavy RAF 1936 Pattern Flyingboots, sure gives me the swagger.

Oh, absolutely - the right record really sets one up for the evening or the day... singing along, having it blare while I have a good shower, leisurely shave, select all my matching accessories and switch my watch and rings over to the appropriate tone (gold or silver) for whichever side of 6pm it happens to be... For me that can be anything from my vast collection. Just recently it's bounced around between Elvis' American Trilogy through My Boyfriend's Back, The Blue Danube, Sid Vicious' take on My Way (Paul Anka's favourite version of his song, incidently) and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.

I just love those big nights out when I have the luxury of a couple of hours to get ready, and the whole ritual of bath, music, shave, selecting accessories and suit etc can be done in a wholly unhurried style with a good cup of tea thrown in there somewhere. The moment it all really snicks into place for me, though, is when I throw in the fedora at a jaunty angle just as I step out the door (followed often by a few moments of 'come on, Marlene, darlin'... back inside... good girl.....' as one of my cats decides to have a sniff round the balcony.... lol).

I think anytime I get comments about my attire(99% of them women

) It really puts some pep in my step. Why just the other day at Macy's while buying some new handkerchiefs, the lady at the counter said, "That's a really smart suit you have on". That made my day and reaffirmed that my chosen style's the right one.

I recently made a morning mix on my PC to play while I shower and get ready. It's got a little Outkast, some swing, some B.B. King, a little Social D and Sinatra. It puts a little bunce in my step since one of the few things I hate about my gig is a t-shirt and khakis uniform. I do miss a nice shirt and tie, from time to time.

I'm bumping up this year old thread exactly where Doran left off:

Yup, old style work wear is definitely what gives me swagger nowadays. I'm basically obsessed with it, so the collector in me is still getting a fix.
It seems many old Rockabillies have morphed into this style. For me, it's a whole different era to be explored with a much looser set of "rules". These days, nothing makes me feel cooler than throwing on a chambray shirt and a newsboy cap.
And oh, Doran, I'm assuming the chinstrap was for reinforcing the collar when buttoned. But I really don't know.

Being a United States Marine! Yes I am a cocky jarhead. But getting up in the morning, brushing on old fashioned shave lather, slapping the brylcreem in my hair, and knowing that in general I have more style, more panache than the average 21 year old Marine is what gives me my swagger. And Lefty hit the nail on the head too. My fiancee gives me more confidence than I could EVER need.
