I use a fountain pen when wearing a shirt with a pocket... I carry a Waterman Rollerball if wearing a polo shirt etc with no pocket.

For most days I carry the Pelikan 800 Fountain pen. Nice size, easy to use, and it has the double wide oblique tip.

Most of the pen stores either brick & mortar or online will have some neat storage / display cases. Levengers has a number that are neat and not too expensive.

If you are looking for an inexpensive but nice looking one, the crafts chain store "Michael's" has one, and it looked like it was well made.

Venlo makes nicely finished display cases for pens, very similar to the glass topped box posted by Highlander. I have a couple of their triple burlwood finished cases. I think their quality is on par with the British Hillwood humidors and dresser valets.

They make similar cases for watches and for cufflinks.

Pricey, but so are some of the pens.

Pen box

I got a catalog from Levenger the other day and I believe that had that box in both light and dark cherry on sale for about $38... What a buy, I think I paid over $50 for mine.

How do you carry the rollerball?

What's that in the top left-hand corner of the box?

Well, I usually carry the Roller Ball clipped to the front placket of my shirt, between the buttons. I don't know if it's right or not, but without a pocket, it's the only place I've got to clip it.

As for the pin at the upper left of the box, it's one of my Ducks Unlimited Sponsor pins.

all very interesting...

...but it's hard to believe I'm the only guy here who makes his own. I prefer ballpoint over fountain, but I use my pen on a daily basis to make measurements and rough sketches. A fountain pen really isn't meant for all that stuff.

(give a woodworker an opportunity to show off his work and you probably won't hear the end of it for a while.)

This one is made of macassar ebony.

I'd have a display case, but I would prefer to make one instead of buying one. I've turned fountain pens, but they're more expensive than the ballpoint versions, and I just make them for myself and friends.

Since I'm a woodworker hobbyist, I figure this is an appropriate spot for my first thread here (and show off my favorite pen). Hey, people!

Hi Ninja:

My brother and I make pens too. My brother makes lots of them, and sells many at one of the local gift shops here in Hannibal. He also makes Wine Stoppers, I'll get some photos of them and post them. He's made several fountain pens too/

I'll post the pen and desk(I buy old Sheaffer desk sets and refurbish them with Cocobolo bases etc) set that I made in the shop.

Great that you make your own pens. Please, Like Deacon said...POST MORE PHOTOS.

Steve

PS: But I LOVE the fountain pens... :)

Here is the top of my desk, the square desk base for my Sheaffer Pen set, the Blotter Block I made (both from CocoBolo Wood), and the pen I turned to match.

My brother and I do a lot of woodworking, my father pretty much did that and so we have taken to it also over the years. My brother started out his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher and Coach, now he is a High School Principal and teaches Post Graduate Level College courses. But displayed here are some of his recent pens and wine stoppers that he sells to(and through) local business.

BESPOKE Pens :)

Here's a photo of two of the pens that I use on my desk and the cocobolo ink blotter that I have made. My Sheaffer Desk set is also a block from the same piece of cocobolo(not shown).
