Silly Seersucker question

I was looking over the contents of the old garderobe this evening planning my wardrobe for the coming spring and summer, and noticed that the old Seersucker had seen better days.

I have been holding out for a couple of years, now, hoping to find a vested seersucker suit, but, alas, have had no luck.

I've noticed a number of good suits at low prices on line, and was wondering whether these could be worn with a white or off-white vest without looking too odd.

I recommend against it. Seersucker is a fabric for the hotter days in the warmer climates. Wearing a vest with it would be counterproductive.

Side note: The Brooks Brothers seersucker suits have the major flaw of being fully lined. Things are heavy!

I got my three piece seersucker from Paul Frederick. It's wonderfully cool with or without the waistcoat.

It appears that they have discontinued the line.

All that is available is one blue vest in large, and a purple vest in XXL.

I know about seersuckers, and have worn them in the hot weather for years. I simply prefer a vested suit. They were quite common in the old days, you know.

I don't see why not. I frequently wear my SS jacket with white/off white linen trousers.

I have a tan summer suit that I had made up as a three piece and I wear the vest in the Spring and the Fall. It seems that one could do the same with a seersucker suit unless there is some silly rule about seersucker and Easter and Labor Day that one follows.

Whoever made those rules must have never heard of a moderate climate like we have here and in many other parts of the country.

I'm afraid that I am not adventuresome enough to wear a purple suit.
With seersucker, the alternating white stripe works to mitigate the effect of the corresponding color. In this case purple actually reads more like lavender. It doesn't look any more a daring choice than blue, IMO.

I'd heavily suggest against brown shoes with seersucker. It tends to attract attention to the feet.

If you've got light tan or beige, then maybe, but I'd say plain brown or burgundy are flat out.

Black and white spectators (as seen in bugsy's post) are probably the most appropriate.

Do you really think black and white spectators attract less attention to the feet than brown? The specs are nice shoes but compared to solid brown they are going to scream gangster shoe!
I cannot understand why you would rule out a burgundy or plain brown? The shoe should compliment the seersucker and not compete or overwhelm it.
