I have carried a pocket moleskine as my personal notebook and full sized moleskine as my every day work notebook for couple of years now along with a Phileaus fountain pen to counter balance the CrackBerry I also have to carry. Nothing beats a fountain pen on good paper! For a great ink that won't go through the page and is as permanent as it gets, check out noodlers ink. I use their blue, but have also used their green for editing documents.

Now back to the thread - Other things you would find in my pockets besides the Moleskine and the fountain pens would include a pocket swiss army knife or my father's pocket knife, a dollar + in change, my Ghurka money clip and credit card case and a classic a silver business card case.

Stuffings.

Suit/Sport Coat: Pattern silk pocket squaire in upper welt pocket. Nothing in lower outside pockets. Inside of coat, nothing in upper left breast, always a pen in the pen pocket 2 inches below upper left. Inside upper right pocket, 6 inch ruler and leather card holder/note jotter.
Trousers: Wallet in right rear pocket (always a button tab), nothing in rear left pocket (always a button through), Front left pocket always a very used tape measure, a couple of Quarters in the small change pocket inside the left pocket, a small classic swiss army knife and a small gold tailors madalion circa 1930's (for good luck). Right front pocket, folded over dollar bills (larger bills on the inside wrapped by the smaller bills, Chapstick and a peice of tailors chalk.

Punch in Moleskine(s) in a Google or similar search engine they have a US annd a UK website. See what famous people used them and where else they can be seen.


One thing is they are suppose to improve the paper as with some inks there is read thru, so you may only be able to write on one side of a page. I tend to like the grid ones most for regular notebooks.

I carry one of those, they are great, I write down my lists of ideas and draw cool stuff I see like cattle traps in England from this summer. Oh, and John I am not into getting vintage (pen) yet, since I write pretty hard and for around 10 hours a day at times. Oh, and I considering buying a zippo, how do they hold up in pockets, are they heavy, easy to loose or drop out of the pants pockets?

Quick tip for you fellas with stomach problems: purchase candied ginger (it's in the baking/spice aisle of the grocery store, usually next to the powdered ginger). You can keep these little helps in a small tin in your pocket. Chewing one of these will really take away any nausea you may have. And, it freshens your breath too.

You can keep these little helps in a small tin in your pocket. Chewing one of these will really take away any nausea you may have. And, it freshens your breath too.

Thanks. Do you all carry your hankerchifs in seperate pockets, so not to spoil the one for the lady or any one else? Also, just in general hankerchefs are just as usful as a knife, I have used my to clot a cut, a napkin at lunch, a towel after washing hands when there were no paper towels, just to name a few.

I use to always have a handkerchif in my back pocket and my wallet in the other. I've stopped doing that as I think it messes up your back. Especially if you have a George from Seinfeld wallet...

Just chapstick (burts bees) Knife (Buck) pocket change and keys....

oh, and lint. gotta have the lint...

I am with you on the placement of the hankerchef and wallet. The hankerchef pocket is always open for ease of access, which I always need since I got allergies.

Lots of us with the same stuff!

I habitually wear either a leather jacket (I ride a motorcycle everywhere: no car) or a safari jacket. Always have 1946 Contax IIa rangefinder camera in right bottom jacket pocket, with an old Sekonic lightmeter and a spare roll of Ilford Delta 400 film (35mm, 36 exp.) in the right breast pocket.

Otherwise: Left breast pocket, cigarette case (half with cigarettes and half with little Cohiba cigars); bottom left jacket pocket: Moleskine notebook and Waterman fountain pen (medium nib, blue ink); right front jeans pocket: worn Zippo and a Laguiole pocket knife; left front pocket: keys and change; right back pants pocket: wallet; left back pocket: handkerchief. No comb needed anymore. I've been shaved bald for most of the last decade.
