I haven't seen a prop listed here in a while, so here is one for everyone to check out. I would hope most, or all of us would know the movie The Rocketeer. Here is something I just picked up from the movie....

Great film, great prop, I am so envious, lol. I have always really enjoyed that movie for as long as I can remember. Only being 19, I guess I have grown up with it for the most part, always being one of my favorites for the era.:cool2:

Thanks Josh...

It's a relatively simple prop, but the detail on it is excellent. I thought about getting a Rocketeer helmet, but never really saw one that I liked. This was very nice, even though you only see it for a minute or so in the film.

Hey, that is a nice prop! I have always been a fan of that film! The props and the costuming were very good! I have always wanted to have a GEE BEE - R1 like the one in the flick. They use to have that one at the Santa Monica Air Museum. I think that once I saw that film, I was convinced that this was the time period that was for me! Jennifer Connelly was very good in that one as well!!!

Good prop and swell movie! Thanks for sharing!

Very cool. I really enjoy the film too. I have it on DVD. I think it is probably Timothy Dalton's best role. He makes a great Errol Flynn type.

In fact.....I remember seeing the movie when it opened at The El Capatain (sp?) theatre. Right after that I heard he was going to play James Bond. I thought he was going to be great. I was really disapointed though. For some reason he lacked the charm as James Bond that he had as Neville Sinclair in The Rocketeer.

Good morning,

Timothy Dalton was good in the Rocketeer! I find it funny that some people that I talk to don't recognize Griffith Park Observatory in that one.

Some of my favorite shots are of the chase scenes with the old police car they had. I love the other locations they used to give the feel and look of LA County in the late 1930's. You had lots of orange groves and open land then. I think they did really good.

Jennifer Connelly was a very good cipher for Betty Page in that film.

Actually, IMHO, take any semi-attractive woman, and dress her in clothing from the period, and BOOM! Instant Knock-Out!

Yep! That is one reason why I really dig this style! It makes most women look like a million!

I don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t think they were going for a Betty Page look on that one. She looked more like a Big Band singer then a 50?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s porn star.

Cheers.

Yeah, they softened the character down substantially, and pulled a considerable amount of the "cheesecake" factor from the movie, (which was, of course Disney,) but in the graphic novel the film was based on, the girlfriend looked EXACTLY like Betty Page.

I personally prefered Connelly's look as well.

I much prefer my women to look like a million bucks, not like they'd cost me a million bucks for the night. ;-)

Really, I didn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t know that. I could see that happening. Most illustrations that were used in novels or magazines of that period used that style. The long black hair and bangs were a very popular style for pin-up art even before Betty Page started her carrier.

Well, I learn something new every day, thanks!

Cheers.
