Shave of the Day

I bought a dozen more DE razors at a second hand shop. Had them laid out after initial cleaning and I asked my youngest to pick the one I'd shave with this morning.

He replied, "The one with the end that looks like a cooked ham!"

Gear: Gillette Super Speed red tip, 1957 (C1)
Dorco ST-300 (will take awhile to burn through these)
TRSC Moisturizing Cream
Tweezerman Badger brush

Prep: Hot towel over lathered face for two minutes

Shave: Three passes, WTG XTG ATG and then touch up

Post: Witch Hazel

All in all, a great BBS shave. I was sort of worried about the "aggressive" angle of the Red Tip, but it shaved smoothly and irritation free, even on the neck.

I have to reduce my suddenly large collection of razors, but I think the Red Tip stays.

Here's what I do most mornings:

Gillette 1952 Super-Speed
Blades from Boots
Mühle Badger Brush
Palmolive Shaving Cream or Balea Soap (from a german drugstore-chain..very cheap, but extremely nice:) )
2 or 3 passes
cold water
Nivea after shave balm

my shaves tremendously improved since I started using brush and and a DE razor..used a wilkinson quattro before that.

Oh and buying blades makes me smile every time, because it is so much cheaper:D

I'm new...

As this is my first thread in The Fedora Lounge (which I find absolutely great after knowing it for some weeks :eusa_clap ) I first wanted to say hello to everybody!

I recently bought my first decent razor, which is a Merkur 34c (switching from a Gilette Fusion... ), but as the blades haven't arrived yet I couldn't try it out.

At the moment I'm doing:

Shower and hot water
Gilette Fusion (to be abandoned soon!)
Nameless badger brush
Proraso shaving soap (bowl)
2 passes
Proraso aftershave balm

What I will ad in the next days: an alum block and the Proraso pre/post cream. I'm eager for the blades to arrive so I can get my first "real" shave :cool2:

Welcome to all the new Wet Shaving Members!

rmcel and Luke 42 - Sounds like you guys are old hands !:eusa_clap

CaptainB - Good going on the Merkur, be careful when the blades arrive. Remember, no pressure, let those sharp blades work for you. Or,
