now i'm also thinking that it may be a parody of violence itself.

Peckinpaugh's "The Wild Bunch" anyone?
Was The Wild Bunch a parody of violence? I feel the film was Peckinpah doing his thing w/out our modern sense of snark, irony, deep analysis, etc.
American's don't make films like that anymore.

i agree with you, but i also think he went "over the top" to prove his point. a great film, but i think i falls well under exploitation.

I think the posters says it all. (Don't say you have not been warned.)
It might not be a parody in violence - but it certainly is speculation in violence.

I do not think I have to watch this one...

Ah... Basterds.. Dunno either about the contreversy, havent decided what to think about it yet.

I did apply for a job on this film as a storyboard artist though (GOOD LUCK! 'ay?). And heard that there was hundreds of people standing in line (perfectly vintage too) for casting as extras (in Berlin).

I just saw "Kill Bill 1,2" last night on telly for the first time. I'm quite proud of the fact that I have only seen about 1/2 of Tarantino's output - Resevoir Dogs, Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction. All of them are really quite derivitive, shlocky, cartoonish and juvenile.

For the real article I suggest catching a Niikatsu Akushon film fest when it comes to your home town.

Niikatsu Akushon

You might as well see them kind of movies Quentin T. wishes he could make.

I liked some of Terentino's films like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction but I'm not sure of this new one. I'll probably see it just to see it.

Tarantino: Overrated, arrogant Basterd.

Pitt: Non-acting Basterd.

Those responsible for another lame revenge plot, glorifying senseless, cartoonish violence, ala Friday the 13th, Part 110 and/or Jason and Freddie take on Tarantino: Those Hollywood Basterds.

I'm not wasting my 10 bucks.

i'm sure it won't be accurate.
i'm sure it won't be the greatest piece of film.

but it looks like something i'd enjoy.

i won't pony up the $10 to see it in the theater, but i'll take it out of the library when it finally gets there...

hey, i like all sorts of films, the good, the bad and the ugly. :D

He was great in Troy. I thought he captured the arrogance and battle-hunger of Achilleus very well.

compared to the amoral/sociopathic/egocentric killing machine of The Iliad, Pitt's Achilles was a sad emotional loser. not that it wasn't a fun movie, but it was too watered down with modern sentimentality to do the source material any justice.

I think Inglourious Basterds is going to be a good movie. As gory as most of his movies are, i think this is going to be the one were they are going to overwork special effects factories for blood and gore props. I hope Tom Savini is behind the special effects make up.

“Once Upon a Time in Nazi-Occupied France.”

“THIS ain’t your daddy’s World War II movie,” Quentin Tarantino said with a grin

Mr. Tarantino calls “Inglourious Basterds” his “bunch of guys on a mission movie.” Judging by the script, it should have the crackling dialogue, irreverent humor and stylized violence that are hallmarks of his work.

I'm looking forward to it. I find Q.T. movies to be fun and entertaining. I saw the preview and I don't think this movie takes itself seriously.

I don't think Q.T. takes any of his movies seriously, they're just a fun popcorn movies.
