Akubra Campdraft

I'd like to see how you crease them, Michael. I have a mid brown ordered in Feb that I'm waiting for. I see EA will have the Campdraft available in Bluegrass Green again. I e-mailed Sam and asked to see pics of the color, and he responded with a couple of pics of a bluegrass green Stylemaster. The color looks more gray than green in the pictures he sent. I can post those if anyone is interested.

Ordered my first campdraft today, in Taupe Fawn (from EA). Now I've got to forget I ordered it so I don't spend months anticipating it!

Sorry...

I can't post pictures: never figured how. I'll see if perhaps my tech savvy son can do it.

I dry creased the hats by hand in about three minutes: a long "C" crown and medium dents. No problem: both hats took and held the bash effortlessly.

Regarding greens...

I have a "willow green" Squatter from EA and a "bluegrass green" Aussie (I forget the name) from DW. The willow has perhaps a wee bit more grey and maybe a wee bit darker than the bluegrass, but the colors are very, very close, nearly indistinguishable on the hatrack in room lighting. Both are a bit lighter than the "moss green" I have some samples of.

Ribbon change on a Campdraft?

Ok, those of you in the Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon will organize the townspeople to come after me with pitchforks and torches for asking this question, but be advised that my Adam Premier retains its thin ribbon...

Has anyone changed the ribbon on their Campdraft? I'm thinking of removing the thin ribbon on the Silverbelly I've ordered and dressing it up a bit with a 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" ribbon, maybe charcoal. It won't ship to me until the end of April, so I'll have to see how I like the thin ribbon first. But I like the idea of a wider, darker ribbon with that lighter color. Thoughts?

Well, it is sacrilege but ...

Have you considered asking the seller to put a wider ribbon over the existing ribbon? They may be willing to do this.
If you don't like the wider ribbon, it can be removed and the original ribbon will remain.

If the retail vendor or vendors are willing to do this, of course with the cooperation of Akubra, then there will be a stampede! Imagine the new horizons for Akubra fans.

I ordered it from Hats Direct, and the customer service contact (I can't recall whether it was Jenny or Deb) said that they don't change out ribbons, but they'd see if they have a charcoal or black ribbon in stock and would send that along with the hat (at no extra cost, apparently) with directions on how to do it myself.

That was precisely my thought, Carter: add the wider ribbon on top of the thin ribbon so the thin one is always there as a back-up.

i just got my campdraft and was going to post the same question. i'm curious how one installs the wider ribbon over the narrow one?

and now i have to find a ribbon ...

Then it's not really a Campdraft. It started out as one but is now customized. Take the thin ribbon off an Open Road & it is no longer an Open Road, IMHO, changes the whole nature of the lid....

Have to agree with you there - so what is a Campdraft with a big wide ribbon? That's pretty much what the Stetson Nostalgia was supposed to look like, wasn't it? I think you could call it the Akubra Nostalgia....

Here's my mid-brown Campdraft with an unswirled 23 ligne cotton/rayon grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon is just pinned on to show what the hat would look like with a wide ribbon.

It sure is not a Campdraft any more :eusa_clap. I really am enamored with the the Open Road dimensions regardless of ribbon width.

I may just have to get some ribbon. Hmmm.... now what color Campdraft to order and what color ribbon...hmmm...
