Outstanding

Jazzcat, I like everything about that hat - color, shape, ribbon - looks like the perfect Milan to me. I don't even want to know how much it was - ignorance means I won't have to make a tough decision....

Brim

The brim width is 2 1/8". It's a little smaller than I wanted, but it's of no concern anymore. If I didn't have to sleep, I'd never take it off!

does Leghorn count??

as far as I know, it's pretty much the same straw (or wheat really), just woven differently. [huh]

I love it though!

Anyone know anything about this brand? Levine Hat Company in St. Louis sells Milanos with this label, as their own. Levine doesn't manufacture or even block hats anymore, though. Might these be made by Biltmore? If any of you have experience with or own one, please post comments and pictures. Thanks. Best regards,

- Mark

HATCO (Stetson/Resistol, et.al.) makes quite a few hats for Levine. They are the number one customer for HATCO's Knox label, today. (Last time I searched, Levine was the only seller of Knox hats I could find). There's a good chance the hat in question is made in Garland, Texas, at the HATCO plant. :)

Thanks, J. T. That helps a little, I guess. I'm looking at something a little out of character for me. I'm thinking I'd like something a little more formal than my Lagomarsino fedora, Open Road, or Ecuador-blocked PHM Panama for my son's wedding in Arkansas this June. Unfortunately, they only show the white version on the website, and it makes me think of Fred Sanford. But I'm looking at a tan/gold color (more like the "natural" Milan, I guess) with brown ribbon and brim binding. I like the high crown and the bound, slightly curled brim. And my wife likes it. Guess I'm just worried that I'll look like a cross between Huggie Bear and Rhett Butler. I was hoping maybe someone had something good to say about one they'd had to help get off the fence.

This white one is unbound, and looks like a golf hat. Wish they showed it in my color; it really looks much nicer:

Tightfisted and indecisively yours,
