My real name is so cool even in high school people thought it was a 'stage name'. (For what stage, I don't know.) I don't usually use my married last name, it's not a good name. There are yet two nicknames for me, one from whan my brother and I saw Cover Girl on the big screen and he started calling me Rusty, the other Coconut Joy because I smell good!

In high school some friends genuinely thought it was cute to re-name me Tweety and duck.

My longest term bf even called me Duck.

I don't know if he actually knew my real name. I don't know why I didn't protest. If I were to run into anyone from that time and someone called Tweety or Duck after me, I'd pretend like they couldn't possibly be talking to me!

I don't think people intentionally call me Danicized versions of my name. I think they really can't hear what it is I'm saying; their brain is translating my name. I'll respond to anything that sounds similar to my name.lol

I don't have a name like those described here, however, I did have a friend who did.

His full name was...wait for it...

Bryan Patrick Robert Roche.

We called him, and he demanded to be called...

Skip.

Skip is about 22-23 now. He's 5'4", very thin, with pale, white skin and buzz-cut blond hair. He's not actually an albino, though.

Why he chose 'Skip', I don't know, but that's what we called him. He signed his name 'Skip Roche' on all documents which didn't SUPER-DUPER require his legal name (Bryan), he *never* answered to 'Bryan'. If you called out Bryan, he'd ignore you COMPLETELY. He only answered to 'Skip'. And no, he's not Australian. He's Irish.

Nicknames

On here (and in a lot of online places), I go by my grandfather's nickname "Joe Niblick." In the 50's and 60's he owned a bump shop named Niblick's, and people ended up using that as his last name.

Most of my nicknames have been given to me (and pretty much only used by) my older sister.

They've included:
Le Duke
Dukey
Doogle
Lemon
Franklin (my middle name)
Uncle Franklin
Uncle Frankie
(Despite this, my niece and nephew call me Uncle Andy)

Actually, now that I think about it, she renames everyone. My brother's nicknames (that we actually sometimes use):

Foley
Cocoa
Uncle Cocoa (The kids actually use this one)

The best story, though, was how my grandma got her nickname. When my sister was little, my grandma said to her, "You're grandma's little sissy." My strong-willed sister looked at her and said, "I'm not Grandma Sissy. YOU'RE Grandma Sissy!" Thirty-five years later, we still refer to the woman as Grandma Sissy or just Sissy.

I used to get called Dee by most of my friends. It was one of those nicknames that started off as something else completely and then just got shorter and shorter until it was Dee! Considering my real name is Meredith, it confused a lot of people!

Now only a handful of my friends call me Dee. Which makes me sad! I thought it was quite cute.

Since I've been 14 I've had these nicknames, but I like my last name, so I always seem to go back to it.

Daisy (Duck of course)
Lana
Darkwing (Duck)
D.D. (short for Dutch Duck)
Tub (short for the Rubber Duckie song)
Quacks, Quackers, Quack Quack
and Burning bush.

I had an old man call me Elizabeth for years, and still does and do a limited number of people call me that. When I was 18-19 I was writing an underground comic, and being female, opted for a more masculine name and started going by "El" (my first and middle name initials since I was writing as E.L. at the time) and when I was 21 or so it was feminized at a shop to "Elle" and that's stuck. Since then the majority of my friends call me "Elle" with my family and a few calling me Elaina. When I moved to Tennessee, everyone started calling me "Ducki", and that seems to stick.

And the duck theme? My maiden name is Quackenbush.

My first name is Lauren. Middle is Elizabeth. I like Elizabeth more, and would prefer it as my first name. I think it fits me better. I did have a stage in middle school in which I made people call me Lizzie. (I had just read Pride and Prejudice for the first time and I wanted to be Elizabeth Bennet

). Lauren is a fine name, but not for me. Plus I was always one of at least 3 in every class throughout school.

I also get called by a variation of my last name alot, "Mo". I have a rediculous, long Polish last name, so it was much easier for people to call me "Lauren Mo" when refering to me, to distinguish me from other Laurens of our aquaintance.

When people find out I go by my middle name, I often hear "but what's wrong with Sarah?" Nothing. It's just not me.

(And I think every young girl wants to be Elizabeth Bennett for a time.

My name is actually Georgina-May but I've always been called George. My mother was a huge Enid Blyton fan. The only one to ever call me by my actual name was my father, and only then when I was in BIG trouble. lol
I have had a few nicknames too; 'Littlebit', 'Pigeon' and my brother still calls me 'Scraggy Annie' but my favourite has to be 'Georgie Girl'

The only nickname that's stuck around for me is Hack. That's cause when I took up smoking in high school (I no longer smoke) I would cough so much, friends of mine came up with the term Hack. The name spread to other friends calling me that name though they didn't know why the name came about.

I've had "Roland" for a while. I convinced my kid sister when she was about five that I had a evil twin called Roland. Roland terrorized her for a few months before she cottoned on. 20 plus years later and I'm yet to be forgiven.

Occasionally had Dingo at work for my ability to find unattended cake and biscuits! Fair game I say.
