`Dozen Distinctive Destinations'

From the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which, each year starting in 2000, has named a ``Dozen Distinctive Destinations'' appealing to tourists' taste for historic places.

Quite interesting. I'd like to do vacations like that.
One day I'd love to do a vacation using only old Federal Highways. U.S. 61 begins just about1/2 mile from where I'm sitting at work. I can drive out the parking lot, get on it and drive all the way to the Canadian Border.

If I drive to the end of U.S. 61, I can hit U.S. 90 and drive all the way to Jacksonville and the Atlantic Ocean. If I don't want to do that, I can take 90 as far as the "Powers' Junction" and turn left onto the very beginning of U.S. 11 and drive to within a mile or so of the Canadian border in upstate New York.
